A NEW BOOK, SOME FAVE MUSICIANS, AND "GO, REDSKINS!"

Fifteen individual musicians or groups that I liked who I wish were still popular and/or still alive:  Roy Orbison, James Brown, Chicago, Three Dog Night, Joe Walsh, Roy Buchanan, Phil Collins, Supertramp, Journey, Jefferson Starship, Norman Greenbaum, The Clash, Duran Duran,  Greg Kihn Band, and Blondie.  There are more but you get the point.  The music of today can’t touch the old stuff……….For anyone who is wondering, the answer is no, M. C. Hammer didn’t have a chance to make the list……….What would you do if you were Amanda Knox?  She was guilty, not guilty, and guilty again.  If I was her I would cancel any vacation to Italy and buy some glasses with the nose and mustache attached and head straight for underneath Funk and Wagnall’s porch………Here is a shocker:  NBC and their cohorts at MSNBC have reached the top of the list of networks that people don’t trust.  Gee, really? They always seem so open minded and classy!……….Great line sent from my buddy Allen in New Hampshire:  “Hmmmmmm….and yet another day has passed and I didn’t use Algebra once. Very interesting.”  I flunked it twice in high school but they gave me a “D” the second time since I showed up for class every day in summer school.  I’m glad I never needed it!..……….One has to wonder how Carnival ship cruises stay in business.  Another one had to scram back to port in Houston last Friday because of a virus outbreak that had everyone spewing from both ends.  Last week a Royal Caribbean ship had the same problem and I don’t know if they ever did get that cruise ship off its side in Italy a couple years ago.  With these incidents I think there are some good cruise deals out there but you may want to take your own provisions and a good life vest………If you know much about past American presidents you probably know that Calvin Coolidge was one of the quietest guys to ever live in Washington.  The man who was the pride of Vermont simply never had much to say but the nation grew fond of his peculiarities and often exaggerated them.  In one often told story it is said that a woman sitting next to Coolidge at a Washington dinner gushed “Mr.  President, my friend bet me that I wouldn’t get you to say three words tonight.”  Supposedly Coolidge replied, “You lose.”……….That story comes from a fine book by Bill Bryson that anyone who appreciates the history of the United States will enjoy.  It’s titled “One Summer, America, 1927”………Here is some good news:  NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says the Washington Redskins nickname has been ''presented in a way that honors Native Americans.''  I hope that statement puts a stop to the nonsense that the name “Redskins” is demeaning to the Native American culture.  Some people need to acquire a sense of humor and not take themselves so serious.……….This response to Obama’s State of the Union is from Robert Robb of the Arizona Republic:   “The speech itself, however, demonstrated what a spent political force Obama has become.  He may as well have been wearing a sign saying “I’m a lame duck.”……….Finally:  If you live near Cave Creek, north Scottsdale, Grayhawk, Carefree or anywhere in the vicinity of those places where the Images AZ  magazine is in store racks or mailed, I have a story in the February edition about a interesting bit of history in north Scottsdale.  Check it out if you can.  See ya!

Thanks Jim, for the commercial compliment.

At first I thought, "what the hell does a horse (albeit magnificent) and a really cute puppy have to do with selling beer"? Then the whole, name recognition, brand identification, customer loyalty, thingy came to mind.... and I soon realized that having people SMILE, and FEEL GOOD when they see your brand name or logo is a hidden factor, one impossible to place any dollar amount on.

I thought Obama's SOTU speech was pathetic. he went from a grand vision of fundementally changing things to trying to hype and capitalize on whatever small-ball morsels(aka gay's in military or marriage, dream act atc) he's been allowed to (by exec. orders) proceed, (get away) with. It was all I could do to watch the entire thing, but I have been watching every SOTU since the 60's, and I'm too old to get branded a quitter. (better to be remembered as a puker?)

Wife asks me almost every year to go on a cruise....Not me!, I don't know any passwords or secret handshakes to get into any lodges or legions, so I'm not qualified to have a case of LEGIONNAIRES disease....Besides, after all the years of sailing and motoring....I have to captain what ever boat I board!

As you know, we live in Cave Creek, so the jail bird and I will be sure to look up the Feb issue of Images AZ....

Still think the Seattle defense will be a little too much for Manning and the D offense, but it should be a good game. BTW, after watching and listening to the Sherman / Crabtree field exchange, and two,(almost eloquent) subsequent Sherman interviews, I think I (and the entire civilized world) may have rushed to judgement about Mr Sherman being just another stupid, uneducated, nigg....I mean.....

I can't imagine a week on one of those bobbing petri dishes like the SS Mediterranean Ave. or the Lucitania-class Baltic Ave.. (think kid with a shoulder fired rocket)...

I've seen the general public on display and want no more of it- especially on some "we're outside the boundaries so it's law of the sea attitude". that the new normal class resort to the second they think they can get away with it.

I bet the lockup in one of those barges gets a real work out.

.."The music of today can’t touch the old stuff"………
No use even touching that issue but in my opinion the music today blows the oldies away, it's not even close.

Give me one good reason the perpetually pissed crowd would ever give up a totally contrived bone of contention like the "WashingturdBloodThirstySavages" team name they can drag around like some weird fetish year after year?

PROUD,

Those Bud ads are brilliant. Everyone knows about the Clydesdales and Bud and when they tie in the puppy, it gives a heart throb. They don't have to show one bottle of beer; we know its a Bud ad and it is embedded in our minds because of the sweetness of the ad. Smart marketing.

I skipped the SOTU this year. I just get angry listen to the dummy lie for an hour. Now he has backed himself into a corner again since his own EPA guys see no problem with the pipeline. I love it.

I think sea cruises are going down the tubes. It's a nice idea that has backfired too many times. I see business picking up for those European river cruises. They stay near land and if something goes wrong, they can just swim a few feet to shore. Remember Frankie Fords 1959 hit, "Sea Cruise"?:

"Eweee, Eweee, baby, Won't you let me take you on a sea cruise."

I think that other than Manning, Denver doesn't have much and Wilson will probably have a big day.

What part of CC do you live in?

I still like the older tunes. I don't even know what is popular anymore but unless we have a top 40 how can we measure? I think I'll go fire up Golden Earring doing "Radar Love" or Blondie with Deb Harry doing "Heart of Glass", one of the first rap songs.

Good for Goodell on the Redskins. I hope that shuts the liberals down for a while on that subject.

Jim I recall Sea Cruise as being pretty big hit, I was 13 in '59, perpetually on the scent of one girl or another. Seems like every dance ended with a slow song, a fav of mine was "smoke gets in your eyes" Maybe the new Bud ad rekindles that wonderful puppy love? there is a male female component between the pup's owner and the guy who keeps returning it.

I loved Howard Cosel when he was trying to interview Alli..there was a chemistry between those two.

John Lennon was another favorite and I like to think that I'm living the life he inspired. The music studio, baking bread, a garden, but Lennon never hunted deer. He never went kayaking. I don't know if he ever went fishing either.

And Jimmy, I get to hang out with musicians, since I play bass. I LOVE playing guitar, but someone's gotta play bass. I used to be a lone wolf until the electric guitar. It's a social sport.

ya know for forty some years I thought he was saying "Scenic cruise".. like a double deck Greyhound or something.
Same thing with the "Palisades Park song" by Freddy Cannon- I and millions of others had no idea of east coast landmarks- he might as well been singing in arabic, there was no Google to check things out in the sixties.

Seems most of that era's music was centered around the Philly dance scene with Dick Clark as official mayor- today's Philly is no longer the hub of music, now it's just another hip hop war zone casualty.

Thankfully the East coast sound was rightfully abandoned once the Beach Boys and Dick Dale made the scene.
Once good guitarists like George Harrison and great dance bands like Pink Floyd began touring the States it saved us from ourselves.

..Fortunately music was saved and in the nick of time.

I appears that fat ass Christie has torpedoed his chances at ruling over us by playing politics with a bridge closure.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't intentionally closing down transportation and creating a crisis on an interstate pinch point be considered a terrorist act under the law?- after all, it's no different than creating a disturbance at an airport delaying flights and upsetting the normal operations.
I know if I did it I would be sitting in a cell waiting trial.

I would love to see him go to federal prison for the rest of his life- he is a turd no better than the Democrat turd that will inevitably replace him.

New Jersey is an open sewer, they deserve this level of tyranny- Arizona doesn't.

Jim: You better be more careful on what you write, It WAS NOT a Carnival ship which returned to Houston; it was a Princess Cruise ship. Actually, Carnival has had only 3 norovirus outbreaks which appears to be the least among the major cruise lines - although, in my opinion, one is too many.

I have been on 3 cruises in 12 years - all Carnival - and had a great time on all three. Even won money in their casinos each time I went - lol.

As far as the Affordable Care Act is concerned, give it up guys, the law won't be going anywhere. That is why Obama's quip about the "44 times" was one of the things that made the GOP so grumpy. And the lady who responded for the GOP? She said absolutely NOTHING of substance, which is what the GOP/Tea Party propose these days. Want proof? Check the GOP proposal to counter the ACA, which was yanked last week. The GOP sponsors (Coburn and Hatch) didn't even know it reduced benefits and contained a TAX INCREASE. What maroons (to quote Bugs Bunny).

AHiredGun said...

Butch: What could really hurt Christie is that someone died because of the lane closures; that would make it a felony.

Actually Arizona is just as bad as New Jersey (and other states). We have our own brand of crooks and scallywags. Want proof? How about the guys involved in the Savings and Loan scandal? (Charles Keating and the Phoenician debacle). Or Brewer giving millions to the private prison industry (which is something you should know about). Not to mention that gasbag, Russell Pearce, and his "All-American" family. New Jersey has just been doing it longer.

This isn't my first day on the job.

Thanks, Bryson's book is very interesting. 1927 was definitely a pivotal year in the USA with the action of Ruth, Lindbergh, and others and was a prelude to 1929.

It definitely is a good read. Amazon has it at a pretty good price.,

midnightsstaff said...

Actually Joe if you take a look at the law, to bring conspiracy charges for an act of terrorism itself doesn't even have to be taken past the collusion stage to file charges, it's a pretty wide net.

..An unconscious 91-year-old woman who later died of cardiac arrest.
A car accident with multiple injuries.
A missing 4-year-old.

.."With local streets at a standstill after access lanes to the George Washington Bridge were abruptly closed emergency responders struggled to answer calls for help including these and other potentially life-or-death situations.
It took an hour for help to arrive at a building where a person was experiencing chest pains. Paramedics couldn’t even get to an elderly woman in cardiac arrest — they had to meet the ambulance en route to a hospital"..

If that was your mom who died would you be so cavalier in your attitude?

I understand if someone conspires to rob a bank they will be arrested on conspiracy charges even tho they never actually entered the bank.
..or am I delusional?

Besides a lady did die due to stalled traffic while in an ambulance and that is only one instance of political sabotage leading to a widespread delay in emergency services.

..The demonic bastard is guilty directly because he is immoral and views himself along with other politicians as above any law.

That RINO McRogers who delivered the apology speech has nothing to do with the red herring example you brought of tea party involvement.

If you would take the time to educate yourself instead of swallowing the simpleminded talking points Statists always provide for cover, you might realize what is actual and what is utter bullshit- such as the load you just dumped in our lap.
..but thanks for the opportunity to point out our differences, of course that would take an objective interest.
It's easier to just blame the ubiquitous scapegoat and leftist boogyman, the Tea party patriots.

..you are really afraid of the truth eh Joe?- it's the real reason you continue to smear Sarah Palin and keep on parroting the lies.

I have criticized Jan Brewer and Russell Pearce along with numerous other low life political whores in this state, ask anyone.. it's a cheap trick you apologists use all the time; after all you never attempt to set the goal higher than to compare one act of criminal behavior to another even worse scoundrel, that's the reason we have a hard time getting any moral or honest people interested in politics.
Now with NSA gathering evidence on every American it's just a matter of who they want to expose and who they don't.

This is the East German Stazi style world you wanted- keep in mind this is also the war you demanded that is now on the way.

PROUD,

I remember Frankie Ford doing Sea Cruise on Dick Clark's Saturday night show in '59. Like all of Dick's guests, he pantomimed it to the record but it was pretty good.

My "Billboard" book shows that Frankie Ford was born Frank Guzzo on 8-4-1939 in Gretna, Louisiana. Oddly enough he appeared with Sophie Tucker, Ted Lewis, and Carmen Miranda at local shows at an early age. He also appeared in the film "American Hot Wax."

If he is still living, he will be 75 in August. I'd love to interview him!

Chuck Connors sure did well for an ex-athlete and the "Cous" was the master of the dribble for sure in the old times with Holy Cross and the Celts.

I remember once when he was doing the NBA games with Chris Schenkel and he received an award for being able to master a speech impediment.

Chis was building him up with a bunch of adjectives and when it was Bob's turn to talk he looked at Chris and said, "Thanks, Kwis."

Palisades Park was a real place in New Jersey. Blogger Joe Finnerty grew up in Hoboken in the 1930's and remembers it well along with everything else of that era.

PP was a big hit for Freddy Cannon in '62. Do you remember his first hit? (Tallhassee Lassie) He went on to have about 8 more till 1965.

Saw the Stewart clip with Pelosi on FOX news. All that Botox must have screwed up her mind.

Had the pleasure of seeing the Clydesdales in Phoenix back in the 80's. I was working across the street from the Pointe at Squaw Peak and saw a big sign that the Clydesdales were there. Got to see them up close. Damn they're big. Even the little guys are big.

Unknown said...

No one has asked what Barack said. I'm trying to create jobs and I wanted his cooperation. Content has been edited where appropriate and this is the first time anyone has seen this letter from President Obama.

Dear Richard:

Thank you for your service and sacrifice. It sounds like you are going through a difficult stretch, and I appreciate that you took the time to share your story with me.

Please know that I will keep fighting for people like you every single day I hold this office ... The road ahead may be long, but with hope and persistence, I know we can make it."

And then instead of asking for more information about the company, I was referred to a list of public offices. Probably Welfare, EBT, all that stuff.

No one is trying to stop the flood of jobs from going overseas. Not Democrat, not Republican. No, instead plans are to increase minimum wage to $10+ an hour. Not a word about the rising prices and costs will go up with minimum wage.

I have an idea to create jobs and it works too, but it will require cooperation from both GOP and Democrat. Republicans won't use it until they get a Republican in office. Democrats won't use it, because they'd lose control and the public programs are all about control.

It's easy.

Create a company by name, buy the equipment and instead of hiring in the traditional sense, you seek out "partners" to run that division. A leader is given a budget, instructions, and they effectively have to make their own salaries. Under employment law, partners don't get employee legal stuff. They're partners.

Here's the fun part. If the partners don't work out, companies may trade partners out between the divisions and modify the operating agreements.

Well, what do you think?

PROUD said...

Personally, I think IF....Rick thinks that letter was answered by Barack Obama.....

Congrats Rick....YOU ARE SOMEBODY!

midnightsstaff said...

I think that is a wonderful idea Rick, with vision like that I can't see how you can fail.

Probably wouldn't work in a union shop tho, how would they negotiate with themselves?..
but that is a minor concern for a vision like you just explained.

I know this might sound distasteful but would there be a profit involved? and if so how would a fair profit be arrived at?
..again, we didn't get this far to lose it by quibbling now eh?- we'll just cross that bridge when we get there.

I guess I missed the part about where one gets the money to buy the equipment- that starts sounding suspiciously like some scheme Capitalists employ to bind the chains to the working man by charging usury if we are talking selling ownership.

With your creative philosophy I doubt you would feel comfortable through finding investors when government funding could do better and at a lower expense.
And finally once a profit is made and taxes are paid which partner gets what share of the largess? should everyone being equal take an even split of the pie even if some worked longer or at a different capacity? and what about expenses such as providing a decent healthcare package at an affordable price? after what you just saw with ObamaCare what compassionate business-erh I mean "fellow partner" could do something to his other partners like throwing them on the exchange?

I'm pretty sure you have already gone over all these questions and more already and are eager to prove that collectivism can work if only every one is in perfect agreement.

..and that's a conclusion I can wholeheartedly agree with- in fact it's pretty much what has made California example numero uno when we need to point out the failure of unicorn worship.

Well, seeing how I'm old, an AR weighs about ten pounds, plus ammo and gear, and you're talking forty pounds, easy. A Ruger 10/22 is lighter, the Israeli's use them for urban combat and they've done in lots of terrorists.

There was an interesting conversation between Victor Davis Hansen and Mark on Mark Levin's show Friday, he has about the same dim viewpoint as I do on Clownafornia's future and why the clown car Republicrats act like they are acting..
He seemed mystified as to why they seem hell bent on political suicide, but then most of us are to..

BTW Middy, Jimmy et al, I followed your suggestions of how to create a traditional business. I asked you folks for capital and you refused. Banks refused. So you see, your suggestions don't work in the lower social classes.

My "partnership" theory does in fact work, but people must want to work and that's what separates the grain from the chaff. Middy doesn't like it, because it's RAW CAPITALISM and no subsidies. No rich guys paying his way. Middy might actually have to work for a living. Bummer.

I find people who want to prove themselves, make them a business partner and it is their job to make money to pay themselves. Legally, partners avoid all the employee entanglements.

And Middy didn't want it, so I'm giving the idea to Obama. His economists can work on the theory and that boys and girls is how politics is done.

We all are glad to hear about Manning recovering so well, the heartbreak of Indigestion destroys lots of families today and too many people are too ashamed to even want to talk about it publicly- frankly I'm a bit surprised even you were able to dig the real story within the story out.
But maybe it's finally time to let the light shine on an American tragedy that's sweeping the nation, maybe Peyton will have the courage to become the new spokesman for the President's war on indigestion- since he has been in office I've read shocking reports of how the national level of indigestion has never been higher all across the nation- it needs to be addressed.

I reckon it's that sixth sense you have developed simultaneously with an attention to detail that makes a J degree from Boulder seem such a wise investment.

Jim: As far as the ACA is concerned, I predict it will hurt the GOP/Tea Party far worse than the Democrats. When the "horror stories" are examined in detail, they turn out to be made up and incomplete. My biggest gripe about the ACA is that it should have been based on the single payer option, something the GOP absolutely refused to permit. So now, we have a flawed system which someday will probably end up as single payer.

Okay, enough of this stuff, I am going to go enjoy Super Bowl Sunday.

Middy, Jimmy, Gun, holy cats! Bill O'Reilly is going to interview President Barack Obama before the Super Bowl starts! I'm somehow imagining two champions before a pro wrestling match with Don King officiating for both of them.

Jimmy, Mossberg put out a nice 5.56/.223 bolt action rifle that receives AR clips. It looks really nifty! That would be perfect for you! It's not that costly either. And if you don't like it, you can just give it to me.

The GOP had nothing to do with Obamacare. Not one Republican voted for it.

Even the Dems couldn't go along with single payer.

Now that it's an election year some Dems have said they're going to retire and the others are running away from Obamacare.

Have the feeling they're not going to want Obama campaigning for them.

The GOP will keep the house and probably take the senate and make Obama a true lame duck, as if he wasn't lame enough already.

ObamaCare has already done it's damage to our society, it really doesn't matter any longer what politics we now employ because the bridges have been burned.
The pivotal decision John Roberts inexplicably presented without reason granted absolute control over the entire nation to the forces of abject evil, and that power cannot be recovered politically.

John Roberts sold out my country, he in one decision became the worst traitor this nation has ever produced and by one stroke has condemned the future of the entire world back into the chains of feudalism.

If the 1-800-FUCK U primary contact number leading to a stage prop website didn't get your attention then the loss of our medical infrastructure eventually will.
There never was any attention to implementation because there never was any intention to implement.
It's done, it's over America is now officially engaged in it's second civil war.

It is an intentional two part system that has been created, buried in those thousands of pages of arcane, conflicting regulations is thousands of unrelated regulations designed to create a maize that's only intention can be to funnel existing money to the government also setting up future confiscations of what now is considered State owned capital.

Why have constrictive limitations as to your residency and taxpayer status unless both are intended to deny coverage and limit your options?

Has anyone noticed that the main constraints of the new normal are designed to punish non urban dwellers at the same time lock people into their current situation.
Allocation of needed services will now be meted out as to the needs of the State, medical care will be evaluated on a case by case method based entirely on governmental interpretation through a system of subjective criteria.
Private property rights simply cannot coexist within a growing collectivist state.

Simply put the law of the Abomination,(ObamaCare) now says what the IRS says it says, and the IRS has complete control of your personal medical needs- you will comply to the arbitrary critira or suffer the consequences- ever hear of the term "thought crimes"?

Hello NSA.

Hope you don't need some expensive bypass or emergency medical treatment in the future Joe, who knows how you as a lowly supportive sheep who's primary value was as a useful idiot now completed will be judged as to your potential value to the collective.

The whole format is a joke Jim, how can a national championship be decided playing three games?

In the NHL the eventual winner has to play up to 28 games to actually win the Stanley Cup, this is just a matter of a bad day vs. a good one and statistically there are very few good close well played SB's.

Middy,

One of the worst games ever. Denver just plain stunk the place up. I turned it off after halftime.

As always the commercials were pretty good, especially the Radio Shack's "The 80's just called they want their store back." Funny to see Cliff Claven, Mary Lou Retton, Hulk Hogan, Eric Estrada and the rest come running in and then they drive away in a Delorean.

I couldn't believe how old Seinfeld looked but it has been 1998 since his show was on. I still didn't think he would be bald and gray.

Arnold was pretty good too. The guy has a sense of humor to put on that wig and play ping pong.

The rest of the ads were decent too but the most enjoyable thing was the halftime show with Bruno Marrs. I ddid't even know who he was but I sure will remember the show. The guy is a great entertainer with his drum playing, singing, and dancing and his backup people were good too.

As much as I like The Red Hot Chili Peppers' music they were ridiculous looking, especially the bass player. They have been reincarnated a few times over the years I think; this must be the latest version.

Poor Peyton; he has talked of retirement but I don't think he will after that debacle. I don't think he wants the world to remember much about him, the Broncos and that game.

Gotta hand it to Seattle; they are a great team. Change that to PRETTY great since they lost a home game to the Cardinals. It gives Bruce Ariens something to boast about.

Jim McAllister said...

Middy,

I shows the value of second place when the Denver fans talk like that in the DP. Unless you are first, those 13-3 seasons don't mean a thing; you HAVE to win the SB.

If they would have lost 35-34 I'm sure a few fans would have given them the benefit of the doubt for "hanging in there" but that game was over before it started.

As I said about, the second half sponsors really got screwed. I heard a loud "Click" sound after the first half. Not as many pistascio nuts will be sold today.

The severance package includes two months' pay plus an extra week for each year in Dell's employ, a bonus at 75 percent, health insurance for 18 months in the U.S. and some outplacement services at least stateside"..

Jim, when you have no running game and the QB has to pass on every down that's a recipe for losing games like Denver did. The Cardinals have the same problem.

The really good teams have a balanced attack running and passing which keeps the defense guessing.

A good running game sets up the passing game.

Some old time coaches didn't like the passing game like Woody Hayes who once said 3 things can happen when you throw a pass and 2 of them are bad.

midnightsstaff said...

Same thing if you throw a chair..

I had the good sense to move out of Glendale a year and a half ago. The city government, in all their wisdom, thought having a mediocre hockey and football team would be a financial windfall. Turns out that was not the case.

Now the poor taxpayers of the city get to pick up the tab.

Well, the studio and music sales is not doing well, but not a big deal. But we're looking to put a wood furnace in to run three buildings.

I don't look for the economy to improve for anytime soon. Obama said so in the letter that he sent to me. So no matter what else he says, he said in a letter to me that it will take a very long time to turn things around.

Mitt Romney or Joe Biden will carry on with the globalization after 2016.

I heard on the radio today that several Democrats are not going to run again for the House and they are giving up, focusing on the Senate. Man, I've never seen such strategic sacrifices before in American politics! It's like chess, but weirder.

midnightsstaff said...

I'm with you on that mike, I'm not sure where the sport franchises got the idea that the taxpayer should do anything other than maybe give some tax breaks to owners to get a stadium built- much less float muni bonds to build one for a bunch of millionaires to play games for billionaires.

I moved here in 04 so both those projects were history by then.
I hope the economy can actually support them but honestly doubt it.
Arizona is a bandwagon state to begin with, that single DB championship has been awhile.
So the attendance shows it- same probably next year on the Cardinals and altho the Coyotes have improved, they would be worth a lot more in Canada.. so that is in the back of everybody's mind.
guess we will see.

According to the entertainment executives that I've talked to, they don't care if anyone gets drunk or drugged up. Oh they'll claim that someone else is responsible, but when you ask that other person, they deny it, saying that their management is responsible.

If some factory treated workers like management corporations treat celebrities, the government would shut them down, citing humanitarian reasons.

They will just find another Hoffman. They grow on trees in California. There are already eight more drug dealers to replace the four that got arrested.

Hoffman got busted with 80 bags of heroin. I had 25 bottles of morphine once and it's called "hoarding" and is a sign of suicidal intentions. Anyone else, and Hoffman would be said to be a distributor with that much heroin.

I Googled when the U.S. Senate would hold hearings into Hoffman's death and the heroin problem. It's been scheduled for the 10th of Never. There's a war on and heroin is how Afghanistan is paying for their weapons from the United States government.

How is this possible in New York City?

Heroin is the most tightly controlled illegal substance besides the Saturday Night Special.
Keep in mind this is happening in the most locked down police state where they have long ago discarded the fourth amendment; so how could this happen?

Anyone with a clue knows that heroin is easier for kids to buy than liquor in NYC or anywhere else since the war on drugs began.
..after all the street dealer who's willing to take a chance due to a govt. guaranteed profit margin doesn't ask for ID.

Premium grade White Heroin is entirely controlled and imported by our CIA drug cartel who maintains armed troops in Afghanistan to prevent the Locals (Taliban) from destroying the crops like they were doing before we got there.

Is there any wonder the govt. is so invested in the war that supplies an endless number of inmates for private prisons, justifies taking our liberties through decree and funds the largest police state to ever be created?
All this guy's death means is we need increased spending (higher taxes) and longer sentences throwing away the key to finally eliminate heroin from our children's lives and make them safe once and for all. wink, wink, nod, nod..

Just look at Colorado where over one hundred people had to be admitted to hospitals just last weekend for overdosing on marijuana, (another deadly class I controlled narcotic same as heroin) in Colorado hospitals.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlqPyl3WOYs#t=99

.."no pizza for you sonny"..
(by the way this short shows how it's actually white kids introducing the gullible middle class black kid to crack).. great stuff America.
Eric Holder approved this movie.

Woody was an a-hole but he did have a guy in the mid 50s who ran well but flopped as a pro: "Hopalong" Cassaday.

Jim McAllister said...

Middy,

I remember when Wilkinson's teams won 47 games in a row until Notre Dame beat them in 1957.

Not so good in the pros but that was coaching the Cardinals in St. Louis, a feat in itself.

Jim, Gene Stallings also coached the Cardinals with the same results. After he was fired he went to Alabama and won a national championship. Maybe it's not the coaches that's the problem with the Cardinals. Maybe it's the ownership.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

The ownership for sure. St. Louis was glad to dump the Bidwills. They would rather have no football or an expansion team than have them.

Remember a few years ago they were threatening going to L. A. at which time a lot of people here were hoping they would follow through on that threat. Unfortunately the taxpayers mistaken voted for the money to get the sports complex and here we are today.

I would have rather had the Arizona Wranglers with Bart Starr stay.

"But the authorities don't believe this might be any organized terrorist attack or a dry run for a larger grid attack even tho the shooting sites had cairns of stacked rocks indicating the sites had been pre registered and no fingerprints were found on any of the spent casings, odd don't you think?.."

Middy, you know as well as I do that is right out of the guerilla warfare tactics handbook. That implies training and there have been news stories about alleged terrorists having came across the border, probably working at any number of jobs and studying Americans.

Middy, be worried.

Okay, the guerilla warfare manual says to disrupt power, but don't harm the average person, because they would need the people on their side. They are not to engage any organized force, but to disrupt with hit and run tactics. Moreover, the leader creates MORE leaders, those leaders go to other areas and create new guerilla cells and they in turn disrupt. The idea is to wear the enemy down from within while being attacked on two or more fronts.

Ever wonder why you can buy about any gun you want? The government can't legally tell you to buy a gun, but they can scare you into doing it. And you have free choice of who you support.

Bottom line has been for years, that something violent is about to start, but it's hard to tell if it's fake or real.

Middy knows. I just gather information and guess.

Jim, I voted against the sports complex because I lived in Glendale and didn't care about the Coyotes or the Cardinals.

At least I had the opportunity to vote on it unlike the D-backs stadium where the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors decided that they would just tax us to pay for it and not allow a vote.

The Suns pulled the same thing when they threatened to move and of course the city caved and built them a new arena.

That's why I have never gone to a Suns, Cardinals or Coyotes game because I refuse to give them one more dime of my money.

When teams say they will leave if we don't build them a new stadium or arena I say Delta is ready when you are and I'll help you pack.

Jim, the red headed demon has no chance of winning the election. She couldn't win as a Republican so what makes her think she can win as a Democrat in a red district.

I'm with you Mike. I was really disappointed when the Cardinals didn't make the L. A. move.

The Bidwells are the worst owners in the NFL and probably ALL sports. I don't know why cities kiss up to these teams. Now they are all bitching about how much money they will lose on things like the Super Bowl.

Idiots.

It wasn't until just ahead of the closing down of AZcentral, when she did a complete 180 degree flip and started championing Walter / Downtowner's point of view that I publicly called her out and predicted SHE would change parties because she got her ass kicked in her primary run.

I scored any number of now,(after switching party's) prophetic points in our heated AZC exchanges, which she summarily dismissed as my just being an "ASS"
(for the record, there's no debating that accusation).

Obviously, her ambition exceeds her ability (or intellect)....

Changing gears, did you guys hear the bad news about Curt Shilling having cancer?:

http://www.tucsonweekly.com/TheRange/archives/2014/02/06/former-d-backs-mvp-curt-schilling-announces-he-has-cancer

As a loyal Diamondback fan, I still get emotional thinking about the 2001, Johnson / Schilling World series season. I struck out cancer in 2006, and I can't throw a slider, Curt should have NO problem getting this final out!
(BTW...I wouldn't say that if we were talking about Byung-Hyun Kim and his history of:... FINAL OUTS)

She was diehard "R" until she found she could make no gains through them so she switched over to the dark side. "Phony" doesn't really show what a loser she is but will probably have to do for now. I thought it was funny when she talked about the war on women; a loser's diatribe.

As Middy says, she is just looking for someone, somewhere who will listen to her nonsense. I have news for her: it won't be the voters in her district who are 2-1 Republican.

Maybe this would be a good time for her to move back to Toledo.

Her message has value in the septic districts of Arizona, not up in the Northern Lights area; I don't know what her goal is this time but don't underestimate the idiocracy component of every election- she got a late start in her political life but on the other hand selling stupidity for top dollar has never been easier.

My problem is here goes another election cycle that's going to be wasted in ridding our state from clowns like KKKavenaugh with another "a clown car in every garage" political promise from Socialists like Paula- once again we get no choice other than the ubiquitous lesser-of-two-evils component, at least Paula fills that requirement- it's almost like the Republicans hired her by the hour to play a part.

Maybe she will run against Joe Arpaio next chance she gets- smart politico's like Joe should hire a foil to run against himself- it's the same strategy as taking a cripple bear hunting for your own safety.

Just think of it as the American people getting a look at what our future holds in about ten years from now.

Clean air and water, disposable income for a middle class and a decent living standard- things our generation took for granted all require a healthy economy with some hope for personal advancement through hard work.

Some of us remember although imperfect, a system of law providing us at least a somewhat level playing field to compete instead of a system of raw statist cronyism trickling down from the highest level.

The color gray is all Liberalism holds, gray air, gray skies and gray people born into slavery with no hope of advancing out of their caste.
It is a people afraid to speak their mind, accustomed through indoctrination from their earliest moments to constant surveillance they have no expectations of either personal liberty nor privacy, willing to lick the boot of tyranny just to remain in favor.
If you dare to take an honest look you will see those traits are already instilled in the kids now living at home with mom and dad- crushed with debt and a useless degree.

This is the showcase of where socialism leads and should serve as a wake up call; but will anyone mention this on any one of the Idiocracy Broadcasting Systems hoping for some terrorist drama to pull their sagging ratings out of the sewer?

Jim, Mark Twain was quite a guy. He didn't think much of the congress in the 1800's. Can you imagine what he'd think about them today?

Mark Twain. Obviously Mark Twain fans here never studied him. I love Twain's work. Twain had Asperger's Syndrome. I'm a reflection of Twain. Truth. I do not write eloquently as he did, because in our age, I had to learn to dumb my writing down for most Americans. People read well in Twain's time.

He's my hero as writers go. Elites HATED Twain, but they also paid him well, because the smart ones befriend writers.

The reason that Twain became so mean was the lack of money in his life. He lost his fortune and had to steadily work for a living. Twain eventually hated everything elite. He hated religion, capitalism, everything.

Twain needed the electric guitar, but they weren't invented yet.

I just read that Eric Holder is resigning.

I saw that the other day about Holder. he should have resigned a long time ago.

The warm up is starting, finally. Fifty degrees today. Nearly 70 next week. Changes in the studio.

A lender told me yesterday that they can clearly see by my credit report that something devastating happened to me a few years ago. Told me not to worry and pay what I can. Lenders with hearts.

Looks like Arizona is in for hot weather this weekend! It's only February! Aren't you due for some high winds soon?
