COLLEGE LOYALTY HAS ITS LIMITS AND SO DO I

I love Ramirez's cartoons.  It's a treat to see them about once a week when that liberal loser Benson takes a day off at the Republic.

I think Ramirez is making two points:  One is that Obama is looking in the mirror and seeing himself and what he stands for as the reason for the demise of Detroit.  I think it could also mean that the mirror is acting as a giant rear view mirror that reflects Detroit as he is skipping town.  Either way you look at it, it is another indictment on his leadership and philosophy.

I'm embarrassed to say this but Obama made an appearance last week at one of my Alma Maters, the University of Central Missouri.  I just watched a YouTube of him speaking in front of a group of young students who looked like they were about sixteen years of age.  They were all wearing black and red University of Central Missouri tee shirts as they stood admiring Obama while he spoke.  It kind of reminded me of the old photos of Hitler speaking in front of the uniformed kids of his day.

The next day I received an email from UCM which was no big deal because I receive them all the time when they are begging for contributions.  However, this time it was all about what an honor it was to have Obama speak on campus and what a wonderful guy he is.  I don't think there is a stopwatch that can measure the small amount of time it took me to inform them that I no longer wanted to be on their email list or associated in any way with the university.

There comes a time when a person has to make decisions like this.  I enjoyed my time at UCM (known then as Central Missouri State College) in the late 1960's after I was discharged from the Air Force and decided I needed to get a college degree.  We had an active group made up of ex-GI's called the Campus Veterans Association.  We participated with the fraternities in inter-mural sports and other activities.  In short, it was a fun time.

I know that it is a different world now and that liberalism has reared its ugly head at most universities.  That doesn't mean I have to like it so I am spending my two cents worth to tell my Alma Mater where they can shove their support of Obama.

Fortunately my alma mater (Utah State) is still full of right wing Mormons who for the most part don't care for Obama. The problem with the rest of the college industry is that over 80% of the profs are liberal and that is all they hire. If USU ever sends me anything glorifying the Obama cult I'll shut them off pronto. Obama is a cultist kind of like the guy who started WWII, a good orator who says nothing, believes everything he says, and shoves aside all other opinions.

Art is so confusing at times. Obama bent over slightly as if to stare intently for another reflection of himself, but the mirror only reflects the truth. That's what mirrors do.

I can't believe you disconnected your ties with your alma mater over a little thing like Obama. University politics, Jimmy. Guess who pays the bills? The government. Did you want the suits to throw the guy out and lose funding?

BTW, do you think that we should sell DVD's of our videos and do it on "Print on Demand"? We thought that we'd give the artist 30 percent of each sale. Does that sound fair? And that's only for DVD's that we have agreements with the artists to sell.

Edgel Groves would never go for it and there is enough dishonesty in music without us breaking our verbal agreement in an email.

I might have been born in Illinois, but I'm not like Obama.

Gotta go. Got an email from a filmmaker. Back to work.

Finally something to cheer me up; at least I don't have some alma mater dragging the chains of continual liberal irritation into my mail box.

That is one of the benefits of a lifetime of ignorance I suppose.
It's better than a lifetime of ignorance inspired stupidity I guess, although some might contest the making of that statement.

"If he would prosper, he must train with the majority; in matters of large moment, like politics and religion, he must think and feel with the bulk of his neighbors, or suffer damage in his social standing and in his business prosperities. He must restrict himself to corn-pone opinions – at least on the surface. He must get his opinions from other people; he must reason out none for himself; he must have no first-hand views." - Mark Twain

From Uremus

I have looked for a relatively conservative school off-and-on over the past several years....not to attend (Im somewhat past any need or over-riding desire) but simply to see if I could find one. I don't know if one can still be found in the US today. The liberal philosophy and practice appears to have totally encompassed every level of education in the US.....and the willing ignoramuses (instructors and students) revel in it like a doper in a large field of wild poppies and hemp. Don't know if you are familiar with Wartburg College....(forget the name of it now, it is international)...in Waverly Iowa...(my family was original settlers, and many still live there) I used to live 3 blocks from the school. I enjoyed using their library because students and professors would nearly always be discussing various subjects and issues there, providing views of news and events which I did not get in newspapers or high school. Last time I was home....in 2003...the school and the town had become a pretty sorry excuse for what it once was, in that neither the schools, the college, nor the people displayed any evidence of the conservative thought nor personal responsibility which once was a prominent element of the town, and for which Waverly was once known. Sad.

Liberalism has it's roots in all of academia right now except for a few Christian schools.
Public schools are mere diploma mills for the most part; sorriest bunch of CO's at work were the grads that were climbing the State ladder and just used the job to begin their climb.

With a bachelors in lesbian female social interaction in history or conflict resolution they were given the pole position usually straight into counseling; it also justifies paying more due to the fact most had at least a AA deg, I received an additional 300 a month for just giving them a copy of my transcripts.
..that's how government incrementally ratchets up the pay scale; after all there is no product being produced so it leaves no measure to judge one's effectiveness.
..Government would be put out of business if it had to deal with real economics.

Unknown said...

President Obama has said that no one builds their own business alone in America and I wish that were correct, because someone would be here right now fixing this software glitch.

Nope, I gotta figure it out on my own and as near as I can figure, it's a error in the program itself.

We are upgrading to a subscription paid Creative Cloud program by Adobe and the reviews say that it will fix those problems.

This film was to be released today, but we have software difficulties.

Like Middy said, learning never ceases. And in America, a person can choose to make a business and if the conditions are right, success will be born.

Liberalism is a disease that has affected every nook and cranny of our society. It started with FDR in the 30's and blossomed in the 60's with LBJ.

I really thought that the election of Reagan twice we conservatives had turned the corner but sadly it didn't happen.

I talk to a lot of people on other blogs and the feeling is widespread.

The problem is the only way these low information voters will ever get it is by having the whole thing collapse; but in that collapse everyone gets taken for a very nasty ride and I don't mean for just a little while; probably for the rest of the nation's existence.

The Orwellian state has been established and no police state has ever been dissolved or abandoned willingly.

If many people blindly follow instructions, it's no wonder the United States of America is so screwed up and we will follow other nations into the abyss of chaos.

In my little social experiment, I don't expect to see changes for at least five years. Even if only 100 people watch the videos, five of them take up the guitar, others will see their positive changes, they'll take up an instrument and pretty soon, everyone will be questioning authority.

I've never seen Jim's actual Blogger page. I've always had this particular page bookmarked, so I guess I never realized what he meant when Jimmy said that I was using an old format on my own page.

Nice looking page, Jimmy!

I miss the simple days of freelance writing, because this music and video business is HARD WORK!

Oh, and I garden to keep the costs low. Five gallons of blackberries picked and frozen so far this year!

I read that the government is preparing to shut down again, this fall.

Detroit wants money after going bankrupt, but if they cancelled the stadium construction, they'd have money.

Gee, and people say that I'm "irresponsible" for robbing Peter and Paul to build the studio? If this works, we'll make lots of money. If it doesn't work, I'll have an expensive hobby.

Snowden proves my theory to be correct that there is an internal war within the government itself.

So Middy, what could we be doing better to make a profit at LJM? In your experience as an angel, I mean.

Did you expect an immediate payoff? I mean realistically most successful business start ups have a lot more failure than immediate success unless you are a Kike named Spielberg.

You get two choices; either find out what people want and provide it at a competitive price or find a way to create demand for what you are offering.

Creative Cloud is global. I'm pretty sure that I can film in Europe

Don't be yanking my chain, if you don't mean it, Middy. And I am gonna video in Europe. Oh God, I could use it on the Green Screen.

Oh yeah and I pay you rent for the farm and we keep the studio. BTW, step-daughter is moving in on Saturday. I don't take daughters on fantasy trips. Or CEO's.

The government has things so screwed up and there's so much corruption that there is no choice, but for Americans to bend the rules to succeed.

But are today's college kids prepared to build a business out of nothing?

And do corporations and banks fear our company, because I've robbed Peter to pay Paul in a kind of Indie business building formula?

Middy would probably say that corporate leaders have been doing this for years and I'm nothing original in my corporate management strategic thinking.

I finally got to go and loved it in 1959. I never thought it would change and become the SEWER it has become.

Very sad but at least I had my 15 minutes of fame. Now they are turning loose 10,000 criminals because of lack of space. What a sh-thole!

Unknown said...

Okay. And now, we wait for the short film, "Let's go to the River," loads.

Actually Jim, this is 14:59:06 minutes of fame.

Jimmy, I've proposed to my county government that they use ankle bracelets on nonviolent criminals and the idea went to the governor and fell flat.

Imagine someone who has committed a crime, been found guilty and it wasn't real bad.

Well, put an electronic ankle bracelet tracking device on them. Make them get a job or go to college. They can't go out of the yard or an alarm goes off and they go to jail.

So you see, it's training irresponsible people to be responsible at their own expense. BTW, they rent the ankle bracelet.

It makes too much sense to Missouri legislators so they said, no.

That is true, Middy.

This new software is going to take a little time to learn to use.

God just keeps saying, "Finish the journey," like it's Field of Dreams or something. Then I keep thinking of an old friend who said, "So you're just going to give up?" She always challenges me to succeed.

True about Peter and Paul, but it can't be helped.

They rarely demonstrate anything that could be confused with loyalty; most times it's merely their natural stalking instincts we misinterpret for bonding.

After the fall of dictator Moammar Gadhafi, the State Department launched a mission to round up thousands of MANPADS that may have been looted from military installations across the country. I saw an article online today about Japan commemorating the 68th anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing and how activists there want Japan to shut down nuclear facilities as a commitment to peace.

I read an excellent book on the three weeks elading up to the bombing and the aftermath: Shockwave. As you say, a pivotal moment in human history.

Hey Jim - Was that you I saw fidgeting in line to get tickets to see Obama today?

I can't believe that 80 Waynesville Mo homes are flooded out! Heavy rains broke the previous flood record. That tends to happen when a storm dumps 6 inches of rain and MORE coming.

Got permission to use more music in videos!

SN people haven't replied, so we're going to use another artist's music instead. He probably needs the money anyway and he did give us permission to use any song we wish, because our last film kicked ass! Well, SN has enough money and she doesn't want any more.

I was gonna go with the Planets of the Universe, but SN has a bad habit of suing people over her music, so not going there without permission.

There are lots of other artists who need the money.

The Gasconade River broke a record and has closed I-44 with water over the road. That's only happened one other time. Lots of roads are closed.

Warnings are out to stay home, don't travel unless it's necessary. A five year old girl drowned this morning in a small flooded creek.

I went kayaking once on the Gasconade when it was high and so was I, and on a normal 5 hour trip, it took me about 30 minutes. It was wild! I wouldn't even try it today! Sounds like fun though.

I guess I spoke too soon, there is a link on Drudge now about the unveiling of the newest Japanese carrier today.. I wonder if it's nuclear powered?

Oh yeah.. Fukushima is completely out of control and dumping radioactive water in the ocean; nothing the Pacific current won't take care of.

http://preview.reuters.com/2013/8/5/fukushima-radioactive-water-likely-breached

..blue glo tuna sandwich is the special of the day.

midnightsstaff said...

I am really second thinking nuclear power after seeing the ineptitude on display by Larry, Homer and Moe at Tepco.

The eternal politicizing of the issue leaving us in the middle vulnerable and ultimately responsible has simply made it too dangerous; frankly the process they are using now should have been upgraded decades ago- look at the safety record of the US navy.. that should be the standard and used in a decentralized manner.

..now watch a sub blow up to prove me wrong.

The weather is changing, this summer the artic had the shortest free water season on record..

http://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2012/08/11/shortest-arctic-melt-season-on-record/

..my pool is actually cooling off already Rick so I think we can expect weird weather as the norm this year- I suspect we are entering another ice age.

Glo,

That was me; got good tickets too. I'm disappointed though; I thought no good SOB would at least give me an Obamaphone. After all, I just read where 41 of them are unauthorized so what about me?

Jillian Kay Melchior of National Review Online, who is not welfare eligible, received three phones just by showing up at welfare offices and cooperating with phone company reps. She told no lies, they just insisted on signing her up. A recent audit indicated 41 percent of Lifeline recipients were ineligible for the benefit.

I heard that five people are dead, including a four-year-old boy and his mother is missing when the flash flood hit Waynesville Missouri last night! Some 80 homes are under water! Governor Jay Nixon declared Pulaski and Texas Counties in Missouri, disaster areas. The highway connecting to my road is closed due to high water. I-44 is closed nearby.

Strange weather we're having.

Oddly enough, sheetrockers have been volunteering to finish up the control room in the studio in the last couple of days! And yeah, we had water get in under the doors and we're on top of a mountain!

And Lana said no video of the disaster.

Unknown said...

My daughter gets Obamaphones. She's got a BG dangerous kind of stalker and is staying with me. Her, not the stalker. They would make good ways to avoid stalkers.

Unknown said...

So one person drowned and several still missing in a flash flood last night.

I've photographed that river a lot and it's NEVER come up that fast to catch people unaware!

The story made international news! http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/08/06/missouri-flooding-death/2624323/

Here is a helicopter view of the flooded areas in Waynesville, Missouri! It's just a few miles away from me.

http://www.ky3.com/videogallery/76931649/News/Aerial-Video:-Helicopter-tour-of-the-flooding-in-the-Waynesville-area

Some reports say that over 10 inches of rain fell that caused the instantaneous flooding! http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2013/08/06/nixon-emergency-deadly-flash-flooding-missouri/

midnightsstaff said...

Yep, I'll take this good old boring heat any day over getting flooded out.

..Damn cottonmouths will be everywhere.

..and the bugs and the heat and the mold and I could go on and on.. there's a damn good reason I don't hang my hat in Oklahoma.

well Rick I hope the Enchanted Kingdom doesn't float off toward Mississippi in the night taking you and the herd.

..it's always worse in the night.

Unknown said...

Well, you've seen the flooding on national TV where a lovely wild trout stream, has closed I-44 for a 14 mile length! I hope the trout go back where they belong so I can eat them.

In other news, a Missouri man traveled to Italy to snap a finger off of a priceless statue. More heavy rain is expected for the rest of the week.

Cottonmouths are right! Copperheads be heading to high ground too!

Then there will be mosquitoes, disease, mold, ...

On the other hand, there will be disaster aid money providing lots of jobs!

I filmed a commercial for a sheetrocker who did our ceiling for free! A couple of sheetrockers had watched our latest video and one of them brought the drywall and the other installed it!

There are a number of people who are impressed with what we are doing and they like that we film ordinary things and put great music to it!

It's like Music News.

Middy's always so funny.

Hey! It's raining! I guess I'll wade out and do a little gardening. Plant some rice.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/zimbabwe/10226393/Zimbabwe-to-open-a-blacks-only-stock-exchange.html

.."Zimbabwe's regime has promised to open a new and racially exclusive stock exchange, allowing blacks alone to trade shares seized from foreign companies"..

Illustrating once again that investing hope that any black leadership will lead anywhere but to outright tyranny and lawlessness is a fools dream- the race has historically proved itself more inclined to choose a steady supply of war lords to steal for them rather than produce- evidently it's in the DNA.

..does that sound bigoted and judgmental?, only if stealing and dividing the loot on racial lines is not- in Pink Mike and the Red Menace's world I suppose I am a bigot for mentioning the truth of the issue.

Three days into the county and my daughter got interviewed on TV news asking for her opinion. They asked her what she would do if she found a dead body in the receding flood waters.

They mentioned that they might show a clip of our peaceful kayaking video for a contrast/comparison of the river.

http://youtu.be/gCwYuiKC6HE

Unknown said...

Yeah, I can see how a statement like that would be shocking. I guess I've seen and heard it all so very little of what city folks surprises me these days.

College taught me to space out and take the route that I always do, forgetting that all freeway traffic has been diverted that way, thereby getting caught in stalled traffic.

Hey, but I did video two conservation officers chosen by the governor to come in and work making lists of people and property that need help.

I guess the governor declared Pulaski County a disaster area. I haven't heard of any music stars dropping by to throw a relief effort.

Maybe President Obama can come and calm the waters.

Pax Obama.

haha.. yeah Pax Obama.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon mobilized the Missouri National Guard to Pulaski and Phelps County in response to the flooding.

http://www.ky3.com/news/ky3-governor-deploys-missouri-national-guard-members-20130807,0,1617730.story

I think it's about 20 MP's.

Hey, I was wondering if you guys know anyone who would like to contribute money to help make a DVD to sell and raise money to help storm victims this year? There are so many of them.

I'll see if I can talk to some other artists and business folks to raise the money for the pressing of the discs.

If you want to fly in and see the area, it's best to fly into St. Louis then take a flight from there to Forney Field on Fort Leonard Wood and we could pick you up there and it will be a bit challenging to get there.

Okay, I just spoke to Edgel Groves Sr. and he suggested to make a downloadable version to avoid manufacturing and just ask that a donation be given to a charity!

But you're welcome to visit anyway!

And I still have the budget problem, but maybe good things will come.

Is it just me or is there a little too much Rick on these blogs?

Jimmy, Middy, I filmed an ABC interviewer/camera operator filming my daughter. Then I interviewed a Fox News anchor on camera. I filmed him ... yeah. Cool.

I got a lot of good footage from another point of view of the flooding.

There are news helicopters, news vans, daily press briefings and it's insane in little bitty Waynesville Mo.

Meanwhile, a construction crew is working in my control room, so I can't edit the video until the work is done.

When college educated minds are stuck in neutral, it's definitely NOT a beautiful thing.

Mike, let's go shooting. I'm bored. I can set up the backdrop and you bring the ammo. We'll use yours.

If no one but two posters are leaving any comments for days at a time I don't know what you expect mike.

I get tired of tossing ideas out and having it land with a wet thud and lay there ignored for days.
I don't see how Rick who is actually carrying this blog can be looked at as the problem.

I am tired with the echo around here myself.
The nature of Jim's question is one that is going to have one answer for the few that actually attended college that post here, so expecting a lively discussion for two weeks is probably irrational to begin with.

..as far as blogs in general and this one in particular..

Middy, Rick, Mike, Glo, Proud, Steve and other loyal readers:

I will have more time to spend on this blog now that the Republic has stopped publishing the Opinion pages in the community editions. I have had a column in the Scottsdale Republic every two to four weeks since 2005 and it is now history.

I was informed of the discontinuance on Tuesday and my personal opinion is that the community editions will disappear completely eventually. It's just another cut back of the paper and another signal that 100% online is around the corner.

Since that job is gone, I'll have more time for this blog. Because of the "Politics" blog I do for the Republic, I don't send notification of this blog anymore since you guys already know where it is and check on it periodically. As great as I am, I don't want you to be too saturated with "me" to the point where you are saying, "Oh hell, is it him AGAIN?"

Speaking of the "Politics" blog of the Republic, I am now leaving my email address at the end of each column for those who want to leave comments. That blog site has been lacking a place for replies so I am providing one of my own. If I get enough comments I will post them as a separate blog on "Politics" so they can be universally read.

I intend to do a fresh blog in this space today, so stay tuned and check back regularly!

The hummingbirds will eventually stop hanging around if I don't tend the feeder- no blame intended, it's just an observance of reality, an illustration everyone should relate to but for some reason won't.

Me, Mike, Cj, Steve, PTB, Hicks and others are not college grads so really what can we say on a blog that has a topic such as this one?
You, Glo, Rick and people who don't care enough to actually write their own thoughts directly are the only educated ones in the group..

I think it's fruitless to continue, there is no attempt at dialogue.
Whole days go by with no one responding to anything that's written; obviously this like a lot of other sites is merely a place for people to bring their spray cans to an empty wall and strike when no one is looking.

I realize a lot of what I say is not going to be received by either the leftists or the conservatives who are willing to swallow any level of groupthink in the name of their own political party's agenda yet not even be willing to discuss issues.
It reinforces my opinion of the mindset of the nation.

Many ignoring comments can be chalked up as a knee jerk gut reaction to my asocial block headed personal nature, which may have some merit but I have noticed few willing to explore issues that might shake the foundations they have built their lives on such as is it o k to love your country yet hate what your government has evolved into?

For instance the rationale of someone making the statement "if you aren't doing anything wrong why should you care about being watched" and when it's countered "then why do you put a door on the bathroom?" the conversation typically ends and a grudge begins.

And if there ever was something this nation needs it is to have their assumptions questioned every once and a while.

I guess the worst thing is to put real effort in writing your thoughts and have absolutely no response, it's like a bad marriage- something everyone should be able to relate.

Hey Jim,

I don't read the online AZ Rep any more since they started charging for the privilege. I moved over to KPHO Channel 5 online and get everything I need there. I've gone back to the AZ Rep on occasion to see what's what, and the new style is awful. I notice they now let you read 20 'free' articles a month. Big whoopee.

You were the only blogger on the old site I liked because you actually responded to the people who took the time to post. Try getting any resp0onse from Valdez or Laurie or Montini - fuggetaboutit.

I like this space. I think I've even gotten used to Rick ...

PS Four weeks from today I fly off again!

Middy ... I am just ... I don't know ... me, huh?

I just looked in the mirror and checked my ID. I'm me.

I taped a nice, long interview with the Waynesville Mo. mayor re: the floods.

Meanwhile in the control room; the walls will be painted on Saturday. Monday is the soonest that I can process all the interviews.

If you'd like to help, just go to Facebook's Good Samaritan Resource Center in Waynesville, or just wait for the video. It's free.

I saw lots of kayaks coming into town

Jim's blog is my obsession. It is my escape from the mundane of rural life. It's like visiting Scottsdale on a spiritual level. No muss ... no fuss.

Well, back into Waynesville to get stock footage. Watch all the news crews and film them filming people to inform the world, because people want to know what's going on in Waynesville, Missouri.

Fox News told me that in an interview.
