OBAMA AND HIS PHONY HOLLYWOOD BUDDIES


I used to give my dad a hard time when I was a kid because he disliked so many show business people because of their wild private lives.  In particular, he had no use for Frank Sinatra because Frank was such a carouser and had married so many women.

It was a different world then and as a naïve kid, I could enjoy plenty of entertainers regardless of what they did on their own time.  It never bothered me a bit that Frank was a popular guy with the ladies and had been married several times.  I was at an age where I thought it was really “cool” that he had a wife as gorgeous as Ava Gardner but could still have other babes on the side.  What a guy! 

Today, I have morphed into my dad when it comes to Hollywood phonies.  There are plenty of them and although I don’t care about their home life and marital problems, I do dislike the phony political philosophy of many of them.

I’m talking about the typical Hollywood limousine liberal: Obama loving types who love to feel good about themselves by forking over large amounts of money to a guy they think is a messiah out to save us with his liberal mindset.  Never mind that the guy has never held a real job and has been a deer in the headlights for over three years.

All of this is happening while the national debt has climbed to $15 trillion, unemployment is back up to 8.2%, and we have record numbers of food stamp recipients and relentless assaults on religious freedom while illegal aliens can now get excused and fight with the 20 million Americans who are out of work for the scarce jobs that may be available.

Obama is now back on the campaign trail making empty promises and using divisive, class-warfare, language to push for re-election.  Plus, to fund his $1 billion campaign, he is once again going to his Hollywood buddies.

Relax, George, and write that check 
So, you might say:  “Well, they believe in Obama because he wants to have green power sources, eliminate racism (ha-ha), produce green energy through wind and sun power, and gear everyone to a liberal lifestyle where the rich get soaked to support a myriad of ridiculous government  programs and regulations.  

It’s very noble to them that Obama despises the entrepreneurs who are the REAL job creators saying they need to pay higher taxes.   As Orit Sklar of “The Daily Caller” has written, “For someone who speaks about the American dream, Obama certainly knows how to deride people who have achieved it and set up roadblocks in front of those seeking it.”

As the prez makes his rounds of $50,000 per plate fundraisers with stars like George Clooney and Sarah Jessica Parker, how do some of the other rich Obama lovers go about paying THEIR “fair share?”  Huge Obama supporter Bruce Springsteen, who despises the rich, is pretty rich himself and has even found a loophole where he can avoid property taxes on a couple hundred acres of his estate in New Jersey by claiming he is a farmer.  This has saved him thousands of tax dollars that would go to needy causes in New Jersey.

Then, there is another of Obama’s pals, Bon Jovi.  Obama even gives this guy free plane rides on Air Force One.  He has found that raising a few bees can save him a ton on taxes.   Taxes that he believes other should pay but not him.  

Meanwhile, stars like Sting, Julia Roberts, and Leonardo DiCaprio are flying private jets around the world, expanding their carbon footprints faster than they can buy carbon offsets as they call for anti-global warming policies to stifle business and economic growth.   Harrison Ford owns several airplanes and has bragged about how he can hop in one and fly up the coast for a hamburger.  Hypocrites?  I think so.

They can do as they please but “paying their fair share,” as Obama constantly cries the rich are not doing, is not anything that interests them or him.  They just don’t care, folks.  Below their glossy exteriors, they are phony to the bone.

Remember that in November.

I have been getting more and more uneasy about the Prez hobnobbing with so many 'radical' Hollywood types, and I think this last fundraiseer at the house of Sarah Jessica Parker (Sweet Jesus! How in God's name did she EVER get to be an A-list movie star?????) pushed me over the edge and into the Romney camp for the election. He's charismatic, but the glitz has overtaken whatever substance there ever was.

Sounds like that my father and Jim's dad would have gotten along famously. Back in the old days, having a good reputation was what counted and rich guys like Aristotle Onassis, a Greek, were rascals. Makes me wonder if maybe that's why Greece must be saved and why everything has gone to hell.

I did some research on entertainment corporations and a number of them and their "Products" are Democrats. Drug addiction is high and it's no wonder why Welfare Recipients (WR's) are also drug addicted. They are largely a People without hope and to them, celebrities are gods and goddesses. To WR's, that's the life to emulate. Been there.

But I must be wrong, because both Republicans and Democrats want to drug test WR's, so maybe celebrities want to emulate the behavior of poor people! That must be why government is policing them and not entertainers. It's the poor folks who are to blame for the world's problems. Sarcasm aside, their actions are window dressing.

The wealthy people have a saying that it takes money to make money. Yes and power migrates to money and you won't see Presidents shaking a homeless person's hand except maybe once every four years.

But the publicists create good reputations and the media tells us anything and everything good about the people that we admire and the manufactured truth will enslave us.

I went to post this blog on Facebook, and I got this challenge to solve one of those anti-spam things.

Didn't President Obama pick up where G.W. left off? And that trillion dollar debt was started by the Federal Reserve's alleged illegal trillion dollar bailout in 2007, before the collapse of the 2008 banks!

Eventually, the feds will find evidence against CEO's and others that they, golly gee whiz, never knew about before! I know this is all created. Ignoring Madoff proves that!

And the game will continue just like this for hundreds of years to come. The rich will always be wealthy and the poor will always have inequality and kept at odds with one another.

Lest we forget......the major problems with the economy started after the '06 elections and the resulting Democrat majority in the senate and house.....Bush did add to the problems by spending like a drunken sailor.....but Obama and the Federal Reserve have added so many more trillions to our country's debt....and as a consequence, it will take many generations to come to ever repay that debt...

Ronald the Magnificent was the master of manipulating the media, maybe Romney can begin some repairs but only if he is willing to be a one term for the country kind of guy... and what are those chances?

Donald Trump supports Mitt Romney, but he flips and flops more than Romney!

According to Trump's own page, in 1999, he supported abortion. When he decided to run for President, he changed his views to fight abortion. His views on the economy? He's optimistic about the future of Atlantic City. He believes that zero corporate tax would spur jobs, but he wants to fight cronyism.

Donald Trump also opts for global redistribution of wealth.

So how's Romney looking now?

For the great actresses, we need to go to England for Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, etc. Most American actresses are just fluff.

Not all the rich had wealth handed to them. Many took advantage of capitalism and worked the system to their advantage via hard work.

That's the great thing about this country up to now. It's possible to crawl from the slime if you have the ambition. It's the ones who want to sit back and whine while picking up their food stamps and welfare checks that don't make it.

Nothing worth having is easy to get. That's why we need free enterprise running the economy, not the government.

Anyone over the mental age of ten realizes that Donald Trump is not a Republican nor conservative for that matter, he is an opportunist.
try to stay on point there Rick, the most worthless president in our history after promising a balanced budget, unemployment relief, the most transparent administration in history and to end racism once and for all in America has not only done none of those but has become the poster child for excess, graft, fanning the flames of racism and corruption.

He and his utterly corrupt AG are looking at some time if any of these scandals get proper attention, supplying weapons to drug cartels in a foreign nation is reason enough, but now we have Obama himself leaking national security details by bragging it up over the details of the Bin Laden assassination in a desperate attempt to prove he is a man deserving if not respect, fear- He has become just another mirror image of Hugo Chavez.

The assassination of a bedridden old man hiding out in some shithole of a hide out in something approaching the Maryville of the Mideast is the single positive this incompetent can claim in a three year ordeal.

I suggest you contact LL and ask her who she is voting for this time around, evidently you are suffering from some sort of Stockholm syndrome and have formed some affinity for those who mistreat you.

Gloria is representative of a certain type of voter who now realizes her assessment of a person was wrong the first time, and has decided to not delve back into the pool of madness for another drink, nothing wrong with that-

..after all wringing our hands over any mistakes in 2008 has no value- reasonable people change their minds all the time, we have no control over our past other than to accurately record it.
The future and today is different, relevant, and arguing the obvious over anything else is merely pointing fingers as who it was that crashed the car.

Doesn't it seem irrational to give the keys back to those who crashed the car with their only argument being it wasn't them driving the last time because they were in the back seat?

We need a real choice but never get one so I hold my nose again and vote to stop the waterboarding session.

Investments: In 2005, I planted blackberry starts for $12. Ten of them survived. Then the plant roots spread and made lots more of their kind. Now I'm getting about 10 gallons of berries a year. I don't have enough acreage to get farm subsidies like all those entertainers!

Many of us not-so-well-to-do folks fully expect Mitt Romney to make things worse for us, while giving more wealth to the rich and foreign banks. On the flipside, we expect the worse from Obama after November.

Well, Lana says we got green beans and more berries to pick. Then fishing later. It's all to stock up and prepare, while praying things will be better. All a hillbilly needs is a kayak, fishing gear, rifle and ammo and a few acres in the Ozarks!

You better buy that farm, Jim. Build ya a barn with luxury bunk beds and beer stocked up for just in case.

Yep, you're right Jim. Some rich folks worked very hard for what they have. But how do you think I got a bad back? I worked just as hard, but not as smart as people like SN. But I was born to poverty. Her dad was a corporate executive and that ain't her fault. Our fathers were from another era and if not for the Internet, I'd have never made it as a successful writer and I might have to rely on that few hundred dollars a month again sometime. I ain't as good as a writer as my old mentor, but I can fish and grow food. I'd still help her out if things got bad for the poor millionaire.

It looks like Glo has crossed the Rubicon with us so come on and bring Lana and LL with you. We'll pop a couple of those easy open Miller Lite beers afterward to celebrate his win.

The latest forecast shows BO up 217 to 206 on electoral votes with 115 undetermined. That's quite a tightening since the last poll. I think Mitt is gathering steam.

I think that BO saying we have 57 states and calling corpsmen "corpse-men" is reason enough to dump him. That's two failures in one sentence on some very elementary items. Plus, do you want to see Alec Baldwin hanging around the White House?

I actually voted for gov. Moonbeam in the seventies for much the same reason you voted for change in 2008.. and two years ago if I had been voting in California I probably would have voted for him again because Meg Whitman was nothing but Arnold part II- just another black hole of a politician..

..Life is a series of mistakes, the winners in life are the ones who learn from those mistakes and change their approach.

Scott Walker would be my very first choice for president this time around but obviously he is pretty busy trying to work with the unions in Wisconsin instead of working to destroy them like they claim...
I predict he will be elected president some day despite the media Palinizing him every chance they get.

I am tired of the whole political process of campaigning myself. I tend not to even listen to the more liberal commentators. Actually, I don't listen to either the far left or the far right (unless they are one of my friends & then I can argue the points). But the Republicans are just as phony & here is one of the big reasons why:

Take that whole "REAL job creators" thing. Yeah, I know you didn't say it first, Jim. You are just repeating what you have been told over & over again by your political figurines of choice that have in turn been told to say those words because that's what the public wants to hear. BUT what does that mean? Generally, it means that the person running for office is or once was a savvy business man ... Which means that they know how to generate profit. AND I cannot actually believe that I have to tell you guys this: That is NOT the same thing as creating jobs. In fact, in today's world, it is almost completely the exact opposite.

We have almost completely lost our work ethic in this country. That is what the problem is. The whole place is being run by people who generally have never known a day of real work in their life -- both politicians & the heads of big businesses that exercise their muscle only in a figurative sense behind the scenes ... AND they are manipulating the masses, many of whom did work once upon a time, into believing that they should gain complete & total power.

Can you say one party system? We are just a republic, you know. That's what I keep hearing anyway. Of course, then just are walking right up to a dictatorship ... Even if you do change the clothes & the face every few years. As long as they all say the same thing & answer to the same big bosses ...

Maybe we should just change Article 2 of the Constitution right now &, as soon as Obama is out of office, elect a German. A REAL German that is. That seems to be the last place on earth where the Protestant work ethic is still alive & well ... Of course, that is also where it originated.

I am disabled and I am not Romney's constituency. I am not technically Employable, but I do own a small company where I could do a little writing. The VA won't even acknowledge freelance writing as an occupation. My tax documents do not reflect that any of my previous writing ever was a good investment. And I am blacklisted from entertainment writing, and who wants to write about a bunch of spoiled celebrities anyway? Why? Just because it pays good?

According to the ADA laws, Employers are NOT required to hire me. Employers are only asked to make Reasonable Accomodations in the workplace for me and there may be days that I just can't work. Why would you even consider disabled people as an employee?

Disabled people are in the largest segment of the Baby Boomer population and we could work from home, if the Republicans wanted to give the handicapped first dibbs at contracts to work from home via the Internet. But that would be taking money from their constituents who pay for their election campaigns.

So tell me Middy, what changes would you have me do in my life? You know as much about me as Mitt Romney. Don't just tell me I'm lazy. Show me the numbers for the writing that I could be doing and for whom and from my home. Okay, so I relocate to another area. Calculate the cost of where I live vs where I'd go and how much it would cost. It's not very simple when you're not well-to-do, is it? I present a very rough argument, but I'm just a hillbilly. You're from Scottsdale. Life is easy for you.

Oh I forgot. Middy's an ex-prison guard and lives in California. Am I asking too much for Middy to do a little research into what he'd do if he were disabled and needed to work? Sorry, suicide is not an acceptable response. Middy is in California and their disability laws are much better than Missouri's, however one can't just move to Cali and expect SSI and VA benefits to remain the same while job hunting.

Plain and simple fact, to live as a successful businessman/writer, I'd have to bring in, $50,000 in a freelance writing career. It's not possible. The government, especially under the Republicans, will NOT approve such a change.

If Republicans want to win the election, they will pass a 45 percent tax on employers that choose to dismiss Americans to hire illegal immigrants or to outsource jobs. Romney's flipping and flopping wouldn't make a bit of difference then and would win by a landslide. The GOP won't do that. They want special privileges and a cherry on top for the people who made America what it is right now and all Obama has to do is let the Republicans be Republicans and he'll win by a landslide. To lift yet another layer of that skin off the onion if you were honest, one would have to come to the conclusion that it's not government's role to "create" Jobs in the first place Cj.

Insinuating that one or the other approach creates jobs is to accept the false premise that government can or should be in charge to affect something that they have neither the expertise or the incentive to do..

The very best one should expect is for the government is to not to do anything other than get out of the way and allow market forces to flourish.
that is exactly what we do not have in place today and it is the very reason we have high unemployment and more people on food stamps than any time in our history.

What you are actually suggesting is a turn from a highly efficient, fractured, specialized economy where there are layer after layer of efficient pursuits to back to something modeled after the agrarian approach we abandoned in the mid eighteen hundreds, the president is not supposed to be running a large collective, at least it used to not be that way..

I apologize to the innocent bystanders about that last outburst, I some really negative news today and still haven't quite composed myself.

For some reason I assumed I had an assured seating for my job interview today but evidently the whole thing was canceled without explanation.

Sure... I was given the perfunctory tape message that I might be reconsidered for the position in the future.. and "thank's for responding"

..probably my age, or my truthfulness in answering delicate personal questions in the application - I hope it was not my worst fear, my age or my lifestyle.

It's probably just as well, for twelve dollars a day and .44 cents a mile from not my address but the center of "Cowtown" as Jim refers to it is how they figure mileage..

I was going to take the bike each morning and really clean up, so much for jury duty..

I think I might get a lawyer on this one.. this could be considered a clear cut example of prejudicial hiring practices if you ask me..

..and I had my copy of Daryl Gates book "Chief" in the bag ready to go to impress the prosecuting attorney and a copy of High Times for the defendant's ACLU loving hook-nosed Jew lawyer..

By the way Jim I know you guys are pretty tight so next time you see Sheriff Joe ask him if I could get his autograph in the front cover, it would be a great addition to my library.

When I first heard that Sarah Jessica Parker was having a dinner at her house I thought she ain't doing the cooking.

I have no use for those in Hollywood and don't watch their movies because they're hypocrites.

Obama is just pandering for votes. He did with the gays and now with the illegals. He knows he's in trouble and doesn't want to talk about his dismal record.

This election is reminding me of 1980. A first term Democrat president with a bad economy and we all know how that turned out. Hopefully this election will turn out the same way.

BTW, your job interview was cancelled probably because the company decided to ship your job overseas. That would suck. Sorry.

Middy should call a Republican congressman and get them to end all government interference with the free market system!

How about government subsidies to the private sector? Well, I think it's a great idea to cut all subsidies to airlines, AmTrak, farms. But you'd have to convince the Republicans and that's not gonna happen.

Republican Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler is a farmer and she gets about a hundred thousand dollars a year in farm subsidies.

The real question is; who is making money from people being on Welfare? Oh, I'll bet it's because the poor have a powerful lobby! Yeah, that's it.

If Romney ends corporate taxes for the rich, maybe he can also give deferments for death for them too! Death and taxes joke. Maybe Joe Black can be his vice president.

I will answer you step by step:

The "real job creators" are the businesses allowed to operate in a free market without interference from a meddling, top heavy,central government making them ask permission for every little thing they want to accomplish.

As for Romney, he is a successful, savvy business man who has even been praised for his business acumen by guys like Bill Clinton, Cory Booker, and Ed Rendell; all of whom are prominent Democrats.

When businesses are run properly and allowed to work without interference from a myriad of overstaffed government agencies, the profits delivered allows them to expand and become bigger and more efficient while providing more jobs.

"Profit" shouldn't be a dirty word; it is what allows growth and expansion along with property rights.

You statement: The whole place is being run by people who generally have never known a day of real work in their life -- both politicians & the heads of big businesses doesn't make much sense to me except about how politicians have never worked a day in their lives. I agree with that and use Obama as an example.

As far as the guys who run large businesses, how do you think their businesses got big? Did Edison wake up one morning and find the light bulb at the foot of his bed? How about Henry Ford? Was the Model T just handed to him?

Of course not; those guys spent years perfecting their inventions and when they succeeded, they became rich from the profits.

That is simply the American way under capitalism. As those guys grew their companies, many people were given jobs that spurred the economy. It's pretty simple economics.

Economies usually will regenerate themselves without the help of stuff like the stimulus which has been a failure. Some people wonder why but it's probably because businesses are holding on to their money because they fear the next possible government obstacle.

If Obama is defeated, watch the growth start at the private level.

If Romney wins, the only job growth will be overseas, but by political definition, it is still in fact - job growth. Just not American job growth.

I am reading about J.P. Morgan's CEO testifying before the House Financial Services committee. According to businessinsider.com, J.P. Morgan employs former legislators and their assistants as lobbyists. Both Democrats and Republicans. They also give heavily to both Republicans and Democrats for election campaigns.

I want what you are smoking if you think that anything will change with Romney getting elected.

It has just about the same amount of effect as bailing out the financial industry.

Jim, The "free market without interference" at work has historically created lots of jobs ... for slaves, indentured servants, and other cheap labor imports from outside the country that were often just allowed here to work. This nation was not built with federal funds, only federal easement grants as with the railroads and highways, or bloating the budget with construction bonds that cost twice the rate of private construction.

THAT is how this country was built although, in those days, they used to call it "civilized". In my book, that is more valuable than money.

Great to hear from you. I thought you may come out for this one. I tend to disagree with you though about the CCC.

The CCC did some constructive things but has always been known as a bunch of guys digging holes and filling them up again to keep busy.

Even the building of trails that you mentioned was just a response to the Depression and nothing else. It's like Keynes said: "Pyramid building, earthquakes, and even wars my serve to increase wealth."

Those are not things that build a healthy economy which needs the creation of productive jobs, not jobs that are band aids in response to a reaction to an event.

I would hate to think we need earthquakes and wars to stimulate the economy as Keynes said.

One of your favorites, Nancy Pelosi, had a similar reaction after the Haiti earthquakes: "I think this can be an opportunity for a real boom economy in Haiti."

How about another good liberal Paul Krugman: "On CNN he said "If space aliens were planning an attack and we needed a massive buildup to counter their threat...this slump would be over in 18 months." He also said "The 9-11 attacks would be good for the economy."

Do you really relate to these people? I think you are smarter than that.

What are "productive" jobs in the eyes of those who are so blind that they will NOT see?

During the 1930's, these very same arguments went on. Employers wanted skilled labor but the youth of America were mainly raised on farms and more and more of those farms were going broke and being foreclosed on, so what to do with all the people migrating to town and finding nothing but bread lines? The WPA was a shovel brigade much like the CCC comprised of such unfortunates that suffered a lot of the same criticism that you and Middy so glibly throw around but those folks built your hydroelectric dams and brought electrical power to remote areas and installed water and sewer lines and a host of other work projects that benefited everyone.

How did you get into the Air Force, Jim? Or, in Middy's case, the Marines? Middy's younger, but many of your generation - and mine, as well - found themselves at the recruiting office door as a 'get-of-jail-free' card. During the '30's, my uncle ended up in such a situation and ended upthe Marines stationed in Burma. Came back home four years later with a few skills but still couldn't land a job so joined the CCC. Fought forest fires and maintained equipment and became a welder. Worked on Fort Peck Dam in Montana, on Hoover Dam in Nevada and on Grand Coulee Dam in Washington. During WWII, couldn't get back into the Corps because of a work injury so served during that conflict as a Navy Damage Controlman while my aunt worked as a Rosie-the-Riveter in the shipyards at Bremerton while he was away. Came back with enough skills to become an ironworker foreman and his last job before retirement was on the Alaska Pipeline.

Now, tell us all once again how such bureaucratic-sponsored work is not "productive."

And not only that, but tell us all once again how Mitt Romney, who has never worked a productive day in his life other than to manage daddy's money (with Forbe's help) is going to save the world.

It is the productive work men and women with practical skills who made this country great.

It is the non-productive parasites bleeding those productive workers for personal gain who will be the destruction of everything we know and enjoy.

The unemployment rate is rising because soldiers getting out of the military can collect unemployment, but I guess the GOP forgot to mention that to the media. Obama failed to note it too.

My congresswoman (R) is hammering Obama for the Dream Act for giving permits to illegal immigrants and she DELETED my comment that it was a Republican who said that he wanted to trade lazy Missourians for illegal immigrants. And the Conservative think tank, Council on Foreign Relations said that enforcing immigration laws would destroy the economy. I don't even recognize the United States of America.

Middy talked of moving to South America. Hey dude, you're already there. Our leaders are doing things that I'd have never imagined, except in a South American country.

The Patroon System is a 17th century old world property rights system. The word, "Patroon" stems from "Patron," who were wealth Dutchmen who were granted large tracts of land and powers of local government in exchange for settling 50 colonists.

A present day Patroon System might be seen around Albany, New York, from where the Lords from Britain created a settlement and apparently some of those folks are descended from those original colonists.

In 1839 to 1846, there was apparently some rioting in that area because of farmers upset over the Patroon System, originally established by the Dutch and later controlled by the British. Farmers had to pay rent and perform certain services to the Patron. It was essentially sharecropping which still continues in some areas of America today. The "anti-renters" gained sympathy and the elected governor made a campaign promise to fix the system, which was done. An attorney general position was created in New York state as well as new property laws for tenants and landlords. The indictments against the nearly 250 rioters were dropped.

How did I get into the Air Force? Simple. I was ready to get drafted but didn't want to be a ground pounder in the Army so I joined the AF first.

Kids today don't even have to think about those decisions with the draft long gone. Big mistake to end it but that also is another story.

Many of the jobs you mention, once again, were brought about by reaction to something negative like war. That's the Nancy Pelosi-Krugman thinking again. If we had plenty of earthquakes and wars think of how prosperous we could be.

As far as the construction projects, who is to say they wouldn't have been done more efficiently by private business?

Polls show Americans are unhappy with government. Congress has a 12% approval rating and we have seen government planning fail in places like Russia and Cuba plus in this country with the postal service and the public school system. Government usually makes problems worse.

Politicians would like to think they are problem solvers but they aren't and either is Obama.

Seen a friend in Walmart, a pastor who my wife confided in, and I know he's a Vietnam veteran, so I asked him who to vote for and he just grinned. "It's the new world order and there ain't nothing we can do. It's a done deal." He agreed that both Democrats and Republicans sold us out and it couldn't be any other way!

Nope, it won't do any good to go around preaching Romney in the Ozarks. It's pointless. Either they trust him or they don't. And it's not healthy to run down a sitting United States President. Yeah, argue me the merits and they can do the investigation after my autopsy's done. I'm not from Scottsdale and they don't care if my friend is a rock star. And Mitt Romney could do it too.

So the Supreme Court gave us a chance with verifying the Second Amendment and Walmart is selling assault weapons to covertly/overtly arm Americans, and maybe it's because the government robbed the treasury to give Americans a chance after they secretly surrendered. Insane? God I hope so. Cause Pastor Jim is seeing what's going on.

I think there's a foreign military invasion coming and the U.S. government knows they don't have an military big enough to win!

God is warning Christians of what is coming and to stock up on supplies. I could hunt and fish, but if you guys had no power, the grocery store shelves would be empty in three days. I've known Pastor Jim for a long time and he's an old soldier. I trust his word as gospel.

There is absolutely no telling what he is going to do- but you can be sure he won't just shrug his whole legacy off and quietly accept the people winning one for a change.

On a happier note I notice the idiots to the left of Arizona are getting that bullet train between gangland and fagsville hottrotted up to speed, we should call it "The Unicorn Express" hell that project alone probably will put them back in the black with surpluses as far as the imagination can see..

I think where some of the confusion lies is some responders have the idea I am a Conservative Republican, nothing could be further from the truth.
I am more in line with Classic Libertarianism and joined the Republican party before I knew where my true identity was oriented.
I actually didn't realize the disassociation during the Reagan years but sometime the middle of GWB's eight years of meh. I realized that I marched to the beat of a different drummer.
...there are damn few of us around, and none of us are identical due to the nature of our beliefs.

So don't expect me to run to the defense of any politician no matter what stripe he is unless he proves himself to have the interests of this country before his own and an undying love for the preservation of the Constitution as it was written to be interpreted in the spirit the men who were mere intermediaries of God's Divine Grace on our nation.

We have squandered much the past few decades, right now we don't need to call a contractor to repair the damage, we need to call the fire dept. to put out this fire.

My apologies Middy. I thought you were messin' with me concerning Cheaper Than Dirt's catalog and the plastic ware stuff.

The 2007 ice storm taught me and a lot of folks a great deal about emergencies, generators (they use a lot of gas and oil needs changed every 24 hours of use) and some food stored can go bad. In the Midwest, people found out that FEMA pretty much only helped the local governments and everyone else was at the mercy of insurance, if they had any.

Anyone who had wood stoves, mostly prohibited by insurance companies, were suddenly living in luxury compared to frozen homes without power. Heck, I took in about a dozen people! The food went fast.

Everyone used to laugh at me for all that SHTF gear and water stored in my closet. They laughed about my buying a generator (which needs replaced), but they don't last as long as they should. Oil in generators needs changed about every 24 hours of use.

Between the recovery expenses and the morphine, I borrowed a LOT of money that I'm still paying back. FEMA came around, but couldn't pay for anything. But they helped the government and rebuilt the park.

A week passed, and excited, the golfer returned to the pro shop. Upon entering, he turned to the man behind the counter And said, "I would like 18 holes of golf and one of those Robot golf caddies, please."

The gentleman from behind the counter turned to the Man and said, "Well the 18 holes is no problem. However, we had to get rid of the robots.We had too many complaints."

"COMPLAINTS? Who in the heck could've complained about those robots? They were incredible"

The man sighed and said, "Well, it wasn't their performance. It was that they were made of shiny silver metal, and the sun reflecting off them was blinding to other golfers on the fair way."

We had a couple of big time ice storms in Leawood, KS and Shawnee, KS (Kansas City) when we lived there in the 70s and 80s. They were in 1974 and 1983 if I remember correctly.

Power lines were down, tree limbs were breaking off, roads were ice covered, etc.

We were lucky; we never lost power in either storm but plenty of our neighbors did. I remember extension cords strung across the street from one house to another to help out those without power. We burned plenty of firewood in our fireplace during those times. We had a lot of trees in Leawood and lost a lot of limbs.

You would love Leawood; it was the Scottsdale of the Kansas City area. Where else would a "dink" couple like me and Barb live?

There is no way anyone can come into this disaster and hope to do much more than to put out the flames- I hope that Mitt has the good sense to declare a leave of his natural instincts and immediately set about to restore confidence in our decision that government is out of control and needs to be severely trimmed back.

But I sense Mitt still believes that we can grow our way out of having to deleverage- a delicate balancing act, something easier discussed in the halls of Princeton than Washington.

That option was over a long time ago, of course the average politician has no stomach for encouraging the children to eat their peas so we gorged on ice cream and ding dongs with no thought of tomorrow..

Putting the Arena in Glendale was a big mistake; it was more than Glendale could handle. There are not enough hockey fans out there.

It should have been built at Los Arcos in Scottsdale instead of SkySong. The season ticket holders are in Scottsdale as is the Ice Den where the Coyotes work out plus it would have revitalized McDowell Road which is currently full of vacant former car dealerships.

Hindsight is wonderful, isn't it?

George W. was a Christian President and very nice. He's the ONLY Republican President to write to me. He confided in my brother, the preacher and had a prayer network for him. The VA buried records of a LOT of servicemembers. W might have been irresponsible in some ways, but he has a good heart. He did a lot for military veterans. George W. always did what he felt was right in God's eyes. The man had compassion. It's like he never did much right before he became President and he is the example of most Americans; a party animal turned Christian. Even SN sowed her oats and turned out good.

Pastor Jim told me that he's getting a big check soon for the Agent Orange from Vietnam and I Googled it and a new story says that veterans are being compensated for that poison. Obama might be responsible for that, but senators and congresspersons are claiming victory. Sadly, most sufferers are dead, so the VA did save a lot of money and that's their agenda. Know what I have been wondering a lot lately? How much all this crap corporate america has been pouring down our throat for years has to do with the increases of certain health conditions that can be & has been proven to cause weight gain & lessened quality of life ... Through deceptive advertising, hidden & cheap additives, new & fun ways to package & sell subsidized crops, and on & on ... I am talking thyroid conditions & diabetes, & that is just the tip of the iceberg. Chemical additives & filler, preservatives, containers that leech into the product itself, irradiation ... And of course some of my buddies here will jump on my back about all this ... BECAUSE they have a vested interest in corporate america. It may only be a relatively tiny interest but it has allowed them to retire in style.

We are being told than we have longer lifespans nowadays too. That is pretty deceptive in itself though. The next step of the corporate process is when they pump you full of drugs to keep you alive &, when you degrade too much, they keep you in a home somewhere in a nearly vegetative state (although real vegetables are not as nasty)... See, I still remember the old folks in my family. Those that made it through all the obstacles of child birth & accidental death often led very, very, very long relatively healthy natural lives. WITHOUT drugs, without institutions ... Shoot, my great-great grandparents built that place out on east Van Buren that I am always talking about from scratch, by hand ... and the old man was in his 70s. Then he lived into his 90s. So did she. I have a whole string of 5-generation photos to show for it too.

And don't even get me started on the political angle of this process. This is a lot like communism, I tell you -- catering to the desires of a collective -- except, in this case, people are not forced to work in order to make a living. Just invest their money whether they actually earned it once or not. AND you all are going to have a hell of a task getting rid of all the poor people if you ever succeed in turning this country into a purely capitalistic-communism form. It won't be like Cuba where those with money, if they were smart, bailed at the first opportunity because the poor people around here have no place to go nowadays & no means to do it with.

Ya gotta admit: Middy has a point. Sprouts and other places with healthy food are open to the public. All we have to do is walk in and buy the stuff. However, it seems like every McDonald's I go by has a line at the drive-through window.

I agree with Middy on Michelle. She is good at telling others what to do but in reality is as phony as her husband. She didn't get looking the way she does from eating bean sprouts.

THAT was back when the market really was free. Nowadays, though, there are rules & restrictions on top of city codes & zoning laws on top of neighborhood associations & just plain old noisy neighbors ... And that is not to mention what happens if you actual do fairly well because then big business wants a cut too or else to put you out of business. I mean, then you are the competition & what would happen if others start following your lead?

My point was that if you are wondering why the Greeks are not as fat as us, I am betting it is because they have tended to eat better quality foods. I bet that corporate america doesn't have such a choke hold on them. Your stand will have to be a certain size, have certain lighting, your employees will have to be union and you will have to provide insurance plans for them, your hours of operation will have to be what is prescribed by law, you will have to have all races of people represented, etc. Well, you get the picture. That how government operates.

Under a free enterprise system, government has better things to do than bother our private lives so much.

Just yesterday at a job fair downtown -- only about 2-3mis. south of my house -- I gave some Goodwill people a piece of my mind too. It was a Goodwill sponsored event &, apparently, it was aimed directly at downtown residents -- in other words, minorities -- & if you don't speak English well, cha-ching. You get extra points because that is considered a disability. Well, what about my neighborhood? And what about people that have never become fluent in Spanish? I cannot tell you how many jobs I have been passed over at this point because they "prefer" Spanish speakers ... I tell you what though. It is a really good thing that they did not try to kick me out of that event. A really good thing.

Maybe you two should take me to lunch again. Just sayin'. I kinda need a break from all this crap & corruption & it would be nice to reconnect on a friendly level. Right now, I am thinking about dipping into my collection of loose change just to see how many Jack tacos I can eat before I get sick ...

Donald Trump is supporting Mitt Romney and while people say that it's bad, the GOP listens to money. Fact. Trump stands on the redistribution of American wealth to other nations and it's to help create a stable world population. It actually does make sense; no more war, no more hunger, no more terrorism and with just a tiny bit of control.

Why people are even voluntarily putting cameras in their own homes connected to the computer, connected to the Internet, and for security. The government doesn't have to mandate shit. People are CHOOSING to be controlled. The more money you have, the MORE you ARE CONTROLLED.

Poverty makes a great controlling device though, but it don't work so well for outdoors folks and others. There will come a time when some people will trade their arms for food. Not all will comply.

It's sad to be that way but it is the reality of this world. We live in a benign area of Scottsdale; at least up to now as I have heard of a couple local burglaries around here lately.

I started long ago leaving the front and back patio lights on and keeping my .38 fully loaded on the nightstand. It's a hell of a way to live but I hear too much about crooks breaking in when people are asleep. I hope I am being paranoid and nothing ever happens but one can't be too careful these days.

Those old folks in Sun City have the right idea. If they hear a noise in the house like an intruder they open fire and kill the loser on the spot. I love it; it saves time.

A cop told me once that if you shoot someone, be sure they are in the house first and if they happen to just be outside the door, drag them in after the shot. LOL

I am not happy with the way these garden hoses are being shoddily manufactured, I was scrubbing my garden hose in the bathtub with a green scrubber and comet cleanser like everyone else does and the yellow color rubbed off in spots to a white vinyl- at one time the vinyl was yellow all the way through making it a lot easier to keep your hoses looking good.

... just another indicator the world is going to hell in a handbasket and we now find out the handbaskets are getting in short supply... what to do?
American hose manufacturing would have never accepted this type of slovenly practice... we need tariffs!

That's one of the ways that big business works: screw right & wrong, screw politics, gotta get that money from as many customers as possible ... So what if the customers don't speak any English? If those customers have any money at all, we are going to only hire people that can sell them crap too ... Now don't tell me you have any issues with that, Jim. I mean, all is far in the love of & war against money, isn't it?

OTOH, the issue I had at the Goodwill job fair was with them calling not being able to speak English a handicap & I suppose you could have a point about that. They were not necessarily addressing just the needs of Spanish-only speakers either as there is currently a few hundred boatloads of Asian immigrants & refugees from someplace or another in Africa take are taking advantage of the free services available to English-challenged immigrants nowadays. Actually more of them then Spanish speakers (probably because the Spanish only crowd are currently afraid to show ask for help) ...

Here is my biggest problem with all that: if you are going give special consideration to new immigrants because they do not speak a certain language, then that consideration needs to be spread around equally to anybody who is limited by the language they can speak fluently. Of course, speaking English only would not be a handicap if not for the practices of businesses in general. That right there is the real problem.

Businesses are not supposed to discriminate according to our Bill of Rights. That is in theory though. And in theory they don't discriminate when they use the word "prefer" as opposed to "requirement". In practice, however, they most certainly do discriminate. Especially in today's world of abundant needy workers & too few jobs.

Yeah, well, I always have a loaded shotgun handy myself. At least when I am inside my house. Double barrel, no clip BUT ... if the first blast put an intruder down, I would probably think twice before emptying the 2nd barrel on them at close range because it might cut them in half & that would be a nightmare to clean up. I also have my dog & she is almost always with me inside the house so I feel relatively secure. Probably wouldn't even need the shotgun.

Well maybe this is what I saw walking behind my yard last week... this looks like a coyote/pit mix to me, the one I briefly saw moved differently- my sighting had sort of a rear end heavy hop like a kangaroo...

whatever it is I've never seen an animal move or look like the one I saw..

I guess you are correct this time, Middy. I had to look it up & what I found looks to be an act of congress. That & the phrase: Equal Employment Opportunity IS THE LAW ... So I guess that means that having a job in order to provide food for yourself & your family, a roof over your head & those in your family, medical & health needs ... AND relative safety from the kinds of people who are so broken & twisted that they choose to live in the streets as opposed to being forced to live there because nobody will hire you & the days of being able to make your own way are largely gone ... IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A HUMAN RIGHT. But is also the law. And we are a "nation of laws" aren't we?

I dare say, though, that the privilege of being allowed to provide for yourself in this world is not just statute somewhere but it is also a natural law, therefore, we are talking about human rights. Then you also have this clause of the 14th: "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." AND while living in the streets may not necessarily kill a person immediately, it certainly increases the probability that a person will die much sooner than if they were self sufficient.

AND, of course, that equal opportunity thing only applies to qualities that are not made through choice. BUT I did not choose not to become fluent in Spanish. I took a Spanish class four times & that doesn't count all the informal exposure I have had ... I know the basics plus some really choice words & phrases but I still cannot learn to follow along in a conversation or answer questions in Spanish. Therefore, I still believe its an equally protected handicap.

You can stop with that "I am not a conservative ... But you are a liberal!" crap anytime now, buddy. I am as much of my own person with my own mind as you are. Besides, the real, self-proclaimed liberals do not agree with me more than half the time either.

One last thing: how can you even pretend to know the intentions behind the words of any part of our Constitution while completely ignoring the expressed terms of the Preamble where the intentions are laid out in black & white for the whole body of work?

actually I am not really a conservative myself.. I went over that before..
so no I am not saying you are liberal and I am a conservative, I am saying that it appears you don't understand the basic theme of what the Constitution was intended to do.

It was designed to protect the individual and his property from the government by limiting the scope of government, it was intentionally crafted to be restrictive towards the federal and more lenient towards the state as a sovereign in attending to their own issues.

It's crowning achievement was to introduce the concept of affirmative action hiring to the point we have a totally inept and unqualified occupant of the White House due entirely to white liberal guilt...

This election is like listening to some of the passengers wanting Capt. Smith to turn around and ram that iceberg a second time- actually that might have worked, after all the passengers could have offloaded on to something more seaworthy than the doomed luxury liner.

All government hiring rules can do is to say one cannot be discriminated against unless all are being discriminated against...
The fourteenth was a specific amendment targeting the blacks after the War between the States..
Don't get all wrapped up in construing something that just isn't in the amendment.
Corrupt justices have erroneously mandated in the face of the Constitution for years.- like with the citizenship clause..

You soon get into the whack a mole phase with regulations... focus attention on one mole and another one pops up...
that's why the government has no jurisdiction over human nature- it can't even address the problem mainly because it is not human- it has grown into a metastasized growth that has lost any relation it might have had to the plight of the average citizen.

That last sentence was Obama's statement about the amnesty he just granted. He may be a piece of crap but that will mean a lot of votes for him. We can only hope that it loses him as many if not more.

I had a funny click in my stereo/computer system and figured it was a corrupted driver or a power issue, but lo and behold a little thought led me to unplug and reboot the wifi modum... and that was it!... I don't know why but these things need a reboot across the board now and then...
no one has any idea on the dropbox app?- I downloaded it but can't figure out where the pull cord is..

I don't know what happened to Rascal. She was an original blogger from 2006 and a very good one. She, CJ, and Gloria were there from the start and hung in the whole 6 years. All three came to the picnic in June, 2007.

We used to produce men who could change a tire or even fix a flat but we seem to be encouraging a society where fewer and fewer people are competent to design and build things and a much larger and less motivated class that is happy to get an app so to speak and never spend a curious moment in how things really work.

But that's just my observations, I'm sure there is someone out there that will disagree..

I hate to think of how many times I changed tires in the late '50s.

I had a '54 Ford 6 banger and bought the cheapest tires I could find. They also had tubes in them which would surprise a lot of people today. I would patch those tubes myself and stuff them in the tire.

One time I was having a flat a day and after about 4 days I figured it out: There was a piece of a nail stuck in the inner sidewall which would keep puncturing the tube no matter how many times I patched it.

There are lessons to be learned and I learned one that week at 16 to check the inside of the tire before putting the tube in.

It's amazing what one can learn through experience.

I remember when I was on a college panel in 1967 on thermonuclear war, and I faced Paul Newman who was the celebrity on the side that wanted American disarmament at any cost.

I liked him as an actor, but the man didn't have a clue.

When technical and strategic details were thrown in his direct, he was clearly lost.

It's a shame but as much as I like some of these people on screen, I can't stand their clueless asses in real life.

I liked Newman and Redford in two of my favorite films, "Butch Cassidy" and "The Sting" but I never cared for them in real life.

Pick up a copy of Jason Mattera's "Hollywood Hypocrites" for a good expose of the overpaid phonies in film and music like DiCaprio, Damon, Streisand, Julia Roberts, Springsteen, etc.

All are Obama loving losers wanting high taxes to OTHER rich people while they cheat on theirs.
