OCTOBER 1st WILL BE INTERESTING

I think the Republicans made a mistake trying to defund Obamacare.  I admire Senator Cruz for trying but he was basically whistling in Dixie.  However, Cruz is an overt guy who hates the new healthcare law and he did his best.

Now, the Republicans are backed into a corner where if the government shuts down and Obamacare is stopped they will be accused by millions of people of throwing grandma over the cliff.  They would have been better off to sit back and let the monster come into effect on October 1st and enjoy the last laugh when it fails miserably.  There is always a certain pleasure in saying, “I told you so!”

As of this writing (Sunday afternoon), the Republicans returned to the Capitol today for more discussions but the Dems failed to appear.  They are a confident bunch with Harry Reid shooting his mouth off and Obama using immature expressions like “Knock it off” to the Republicans but I think the R’s will have the last laugh if this nightmare goes into effect as scheduled.

I enjoyed Obama’s most recent comment when he admitted that “We had to tax some things” to gain funds for the program.  Surely he isn’t naive enough to think the American people didn’t know that and are going to love this thing.  The polls show that the public dislikes it more every day.  Then there are those who have to now work part time because of their company’s disengagement from the law.  Can they afford the new insurance?

Never underestimate the government though as they try to work the numbers to show a silver lining:  June employment figures showed an increase of 120,000 jobs.   Wow, that’s impressive except when you read between the lines and see where 360,000 new part time jobs occurred while 240,000 full time jobs disappeared, hence, showing an increase of 120,000 jobs.  Unfortunately those are part time jobs.  Ya gotta love the government and their math!

Another situation that I haven’t heard discussed is, what about the people in the poor sections of big cities and elsewhere who have never had health care?  Many of them have probably been going to the emergency room or free clinics for the little medical care they even bother with.  Are they now expected to come flowing out of the ghettos in Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit and other large cities with a bunch of money to buy health insurance?

I don’t care what Obama and his cronies say; studies show that this is an expensive boondoggle for most people.  Good health insurance isn't cheap so read the fine print before you sign up at a low cost.  On top of that, those who DON’T buy the insurance will be fined.  How would you like to be the guy who walks into South Chicago and tries to collect fines for not buying health insurance?  Even with government subsidies I smell scofflaws!

So here we are:  two days until Tuesday and the big roll out.  As John Stewart (no, not Jon Stewart) sang in 1979, “Bombs away Dream Babies!”

Hi Jim,
For the most part you have hit the nail on the head. Obamacare is doomed and its installation, application and administration are aptly described as a ‘train wreck’ in the making.

Incredibly, most people still do not realize that this is a pale attempt to copy the success of Social Security.

However, unlike SS which depended on a major portion of those covered not to live to collect, thereby creating a growing surplus, this nightmare is stealing over a 10 year period from those who are covered by Medicare. It’s the only way it could even come close to functioning.

Should they manage to get it up and going, however, I predict that in about 5-7 years those now covered by Medicare and Medicaid will sadly wake up one morning to find that they have been defrauded by the Obama administration.

In reality this purported system as being proposed is nothing more than a - Socialist Wet Dream.

You're right on 'TARGET' Jimmy Mac...unknown days ahead for the majority of Americans...but to me, the greatest Congressional & Presidential misstep is 'EXCLUDING' themselves from having to participate in OBAMACARE.

How can you be for something you don't want to be in yourself...using the letters in the word 'POLITICIANS' those nummies always put themselves between the 'POT' and the 'PAN'.

I think I'll go get another cup of coffee before ObamaCare starts, and then watch the liberal media tell us how great it is.

Guess we are going to have to rework that pledge of allegiance pretty soon, maybe work in the word "banana republic" and get rid of that "one nation indivisible" line of crap.. should be easy enough by now.

Obama and his minions have successfully balkanized the nation; they used the oldest play in the book, class envy.

The stock markets are taking it seriously, ours gapped down 150 points or so at the opening and last night the Japanese market took a big hit.. the European market is similar.

I agree, the Republicommies should have played hardball and let the whole thing blossom- what they should have done is give Obama all the rope he needs and sent back a bill for him to sign with all waivers eliminated- just as the law was written.

Let him veto everything or cut the wavers.. which would be a simple, effective tactic but the Republicans are in on the deal so they played their part in the theater.

I guess calling this a banana republic would be silly, after all we don't actually have any bananas to sell.

Obviously Republicans need someone to save them from themselves?
Once again, they ran head long into the same old trap and have already been type cast as evil, greedy boogieman, willing to do anything and everything, even ruin the nation, just to stop the historic first black President from succeeding at anything....

As Jim said, it would have been better to let what is in fact "THE LAW OF THE LAND", (one that's been upheld by the Supreme Court) take effect, then remind people as every new boondoggle surfaces that Rep's were the ones who did everything possible to prevent this disaster from happening....

They (Reps) never seem to learn from past mistakes, I doubt if Democrats (and the MSM), opening yet another can of political whoop-ass tomorrow will do anything to educate...
(BTW, this latest can of whoop-ass is going to be the size of the ones from Costco)(B-I-G)

Allen,

I agree and even O's buddy Warren Buffet has said that the whole thing should be scrapped and started over.

You start screwing with Medicare and it affects you and me along with all the others in our age group.

The Republicans messed up a good chance to be the heroes in this but that is typical of them.

Dave,

It's a combination of funny and stupid the way we are supposedly brainwashed to get on Obamacare then the Congress says, "Uh, no thanks, we have our own plan."

Hypocrites of the highest order. Tomorrow is going to really be something unless some sort of agreement is reached today and I don't see that happening.

A said...

Jim, I agree with you on this one. While I believe Obamacare is a HUGE mistake (tax) forced on American citizens, the way the Republicans are handling it is a disaster for the party.

I also think Obamacare will fail miserably but I'm willing to bet that, like Social Security and income taxes, ObamacareTax will become a paycheck deduction (it's a tax, right? what's stopping the fed government from garnishing wages?). And, like Social Security, those of us able/forced to pay will pay the price of those who don't/can't pay.

This notion that we have millions of citizens not covered by health care (not the insurance, but the care) is the most ridiculous part of the Democrats' argument. No one is turned away - legal citizen or not. And this system will simply continue. There is no way the fines can or will be enforced. So our costs/taxes go up, and we continue to subsidize the uninsured but with an even bigger premium.

Obama's signature piece of legislation isn't nearly as devastating to our nation as his 8-year term.

Jim McAllister said...

Middy,

This looks like it will be the nightmare we envisioned. The dems should just cough up another year on this thing then dump it completely.

It's just another way to lower the bar on the wealthy and successful and give it to the scofflaws.

Let's see now: All those people going on part time will need a second job to make ends meet. Wow! That should solve the unemployment problem. Of course they will have to buy their own insurance.....hmmmmmmm......

Maybe Michelle has some advice.

Well Jim you and I have long wistfully remembered the local grocery and sundries store that dotted America in the forties and fifties and wished we could recapture that dream.

Have you noticed all the Dollar Stores springing up like mushrooms after the rain?
Walmart has.. and it's a real threat to their business model- they live on the edge of retail instability; what's happening is they are losing the ever growing transportation challenged, tattooed wealthy shopping public that simply hasn't the means to go to Walmart on a daily basis.

It's a treat like we used to see a trip to Sears in Dumas once a month was.. and they dress up for the occasion proof is.... walmartian pics...

PROUD,

As soon as Cruz started his filibuster to defund I figured the Reps blew it again. As always they meant well but need to check their Funk and Wagnalls for the definition of "common sense."

Fortunately, the polls show that O-care is losing popularity every day but the Reps have made it look like they are taking food from children's mouths to live the high life.

A smart move would to be for Walmart to in league with inner city public transportation offer a free shuttle through the ghettos like airport shuttle to the doors of Wallyworld.. have a regular bus schedule and problem solved..
Of course there would be issues like holdups, gambling and shootings on the shuttle but what better a combination of corporate and government entities serving the public at a small cost to the taxpaying public..
Include the funding in a light rail transport bond, no one will know the difference.
..see, all we need to do is embrace the beast.

God, I can't believe I actually thought that up.. I must becoming immersed in the thinking of the left myself.

Has anyone noticed that those promoting this new law concentrate on the low premiums - especially for the "bronze" plan?
Yet none of the "Hucksters" bother to mention the crushing annual deductibles that accompany these plans. The insured, for the bronze, will have to pay (in addition to the premiums) over $5000 each year before one cent is paid in claims by the plan!!

I buy my reading glasses at a dollar store all the time; three or four pairs at a time.

Speaking of tatoos, I wonder if Obamacare covers any illnesses from dirty needles used by unscrupulous "artists."

I remember what a big deal that weekly trip was to the Sears or Monkey Ward store when I was stationed in rural Missouri.

Whole families would tool into towns like Sedalia, Missouri in the pickup truck to see what was new at the local Sears and pick up some feed, oil, a new shirt or jeans, and a couple of peppermint sticks for the kids.

Remember when every outhouse had a Sears or Monkey Ward catalog in the outhouse. You would read a page them tear it our for more important business.

My take @A is that the individuals in the Rep. party are somewhat compromised and leveraged against, rendering them paralyzed- the longer they stay in Washington District of Corruption the more evidence of embarrassing or outright criminal behavior finds it's way into the hands of those who value information more than gold.
eg. John Roberts and his rather mild adoption faux pas that led to The Abomination which led to Scalia informing us to not look to the Judicial branch to correct the sins of the Legislative.

.."The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure.
It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills.
It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies.
Over the past 5 years, our federal debt has increased by $3.5 trillion to $8.6 trillion. That is “trillion” with a “T.”
That is money that we have borrowed from the Social Security trust fund, borrowed from China and Japan, borrowed from American taxpayers.
And over the next 5 years, between now and 2011, the President’s budget will increase the debt by almost another $3.5 trillion.
Numbers that large are sometimes hard to understand. Some people may wonder why they matter. Here is why:
This year, the Federal Government will spend $220 billion on interest.
That is more money to pay interest on our national debt than we’ll spend on Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. That is more money to pay interest on our debt this year than we will spend on education, homeland security, transportation, and veterans benefits combined.
It is more money in one year than we are likely to spend to rebuild the devastated gulf coast in a way that honors the best of America.
And the cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the Federal budget.
This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and States of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on.
Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar that is not going to investment in America’s priorities"..

I am totally on the fence about this issue. On the one hand, something had to be done. And it is not like the Republicans were doing a damned thing about it. But, on the other hand, I truly believe that our system of allowing insurance companies to run the dispensation of medical services is exactly what ruined the medical profession to begin with & now look what we have ... The same on steroids. And it is mandatory. If that's the best we can do, god help us all.

I actually hate the idea of mandatory health insurance. Please somebody tell me that there's a better way & be specific & I will write that proposal. Just do not say more of the same because then I will call bull. BTW, despite all those times you guys have put words in my mouth, I rarely ever use the word "hate" because I don't hate very often. But I hate this. I do. I just do not have a better plan.

And for the record, I am actually benefiting from this shitty plan such as it is. Yep, I have never made up all the income I lost while GWB was in office & I now qualify for AHCCCS ... Thanks, Jan! But this isn't all about me, is it? I still know the difference between right & wrong & this whole country is on the WRONG path. Me? I am just doing what I need to do to live right now.

I do know for a fact that this idea is false tho: "Many of them have probably been going to the emergency room or free clinics for the little medical care they even bother with. Are they now expected to come flowing out of the ghettos in Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit and other large cities with a bunch of money to buy health insurance?" This is how it works, Jim. The poor & the underemployed have "insurance" coverage similar to yours these days. Your doctor may even accept AHCCCS patients.

midnightsstaff said...

You do realize this was not a direct vote on Obama care don't you?- the law is in effect no matter what happened today, this was a deadline for another extension of the continuing resolution because the White House has been unable to pass a budget since he has been in office.
It only affects the power to borrow money, we still have taxes being paid and nothing essential will be affected- that is unless the president wants to make it as painful on the people as possible.. but what are the chances of that happening?
So we have to go through this fiasco every so often as not to place undo demands on our elected officials like saying no to offered bribes for legislation and continuing to rob the citizens for the ruling class banksters.

This isn't the end of anything Cj, this is just the preamble to the opening scene in a very depressing play.. it's all part of the new normal.
..and you are right, it's all about survival from now on out it's just most people haven't faced that fact yet.

I read your blog. As you said, I have thought many times what a horrible mistake, or deed, that Judge Roberts did in changing the wording of the ACA so he could say it was Constitutional.

Just on principle, I think that the House, that votes on government spending, should try to defund, rather than let the wretched bill go into effect. If they didn't try, it would like they were in favor of it, or didn't care

The government has "shut down" 17 times in the past 19 years!

Hi Joy,

I've always thought that there was something behind Roberts' decision that we don't know about. Maybe they had photos of him with some 22 year old girl at an office Christmas party! LOL Not really, but something seems rotten in Denmark behind his decision. We're stuck with this mess now and Obama grabbed a big win.

It still may turn into a blessing in disguise for the Republicans as I think it will be a fiasco of the first order. They are heavily depending on the young to buy a lot of insurance to finance the drain taken by older more sickly folks. I don't think the young will line up for coverage if I remember how invincible I thought was in those days. A lot will figure that they are young and healthy so why fork over a couple hundred a month for insurance that could be spent on entertainment? Of course, then they will be fined which will cause disfavor.

It's kind of a coin flip on defunding or letting it defeat itself. The only reason I was against defunding is because everyone would be screaming about grandma getting pushed over the cliff because of the Republicans.

We can only hope that the 2014 elections go our way or the Dems will have the whole Congress like they did when Obamacare passed in the first place. That would be troublesome. Fortunately the polls show Obamacare to be unpopular.

Fun stuff, huh?

As I already mentioned, the indigent & the underemployed -- those below the poverty line anyway -- are not expected to "pony up" premiums or deductibles. The only time people were using emergency rooms in AZ for what should have been basic medical services, but then rose to the level of an emergency, is when Jan Brewer cut the childless, low income people from AHCCCS. Jan is no responsible person's friend, ask her why she vetoed the bill making hospitals post their procedure costs..
Ask her if she has taken campaign contributions from the hospital lobby?

.."SB1115 would have required health care providers to make public a list of costs for their 25 most commonly provided services, and would have required health care facilities to make publicly available their prices for their 50 most common outpatient service codes and group codes. Sen. Nancy Barto, who sponsored the measure, said it was intended to create transparency in health care costs.

Brewer said she supports price transparency, but that the bill had numerous problems. In her veto letter, Brewer said the bill’s definition of “health care facility” is overly broad and would include facilities that don’t serve the general public and might not charge cash prices for their services. Such facilities include Veterans Administration facilities, health care facilities on military bases, tribal facilities and the Arizona State Hospital"..

What she has done is give cover for Obama at the same time putting the responsible people of Arizona on the hook for the whole load of indigents.
Get ready for the new immigrants coming up from Mexico as soon as they can sell out our immigration law.
If anyone actually believes those immigrants will not be given full benefits after watching the antics the past month in Washington then they are too stupid to discuss the issue with.

Jim, I really think the teeming masses thought they were just going to get free healthcare just like in the military.

What do you make of the angle that the Reps tried to save Obamacare by putting it on the back burner for another year along with a blank check and the idiots in the What me house not taking that gift horse and the money and running with it.

They could have then ran next year with a totally dejected conservative wing staying home again with no back draft from this mess Obama care is guaranteed to be in the next elections; all along the lofo voters blithely hypnotized for another year as to it's individually mandated personal cost just ginned up mad because the Republicans wouldn't let them have free health care for a whole year... it was truly a gift horse.

..additionally after the election they could have blamed it's failing on the party of stupid for meddling.. talk about Wiley snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!..
I don't get it- this one wasn't the Acme companies fault, the roller skates and rocket pack worked just fine.

I can't believe they didn't take it, I guess they thought they could run the table.
What they did was they took their eye off the prize and focused instead on humiliating and finally breaking the back of the tea party and in doing so lost the issue- he truly is a dangerous amateur.

CJ, I agree with you on insurance companies. When I retired in 2002 the phone company had United Health care. It didn't cost me anything and paid for almost any thing. Today I pay $398 a month with a $3,000 deductible and United Health Care only pays a portion of things they used to cover fully.

I don't know what the answer is but I do know government isn't the answer.

I agree, all these clowns are saying they will get it free or damn cheap. I guess they never heard of deductibles.

If they pay a couple hundred a month i hope they expect about a $1,000 to $2,000 deductible. Goddam libs always living in a world devoid of reality.

It surprised me too that they didn't want the extra year. Hell, they gave it to big companies, why not everyone? The only reason I can think of is that they knew most people would write it off as a failure if they did business and individuals. They had to get it rolling before everyone one said "screw it."

I agree on Putin. Now he REALLY knows what a stupid loser obama is.

But over the past few months, she said, she has watched as friends working in stores around her have their hours and benefits slashed – and she's worried that she will be next"..

Hey I'm not making this stuff up, Obamacare is going to gut the American middle class.

.."It's a really scary situation," said Samuels, who earns $9.25 an hour and is trying to reduce a student loan debt of close to $50,000. She currently receives subsidised healthcare through her university, but it runs out next year, when she had hoped her employer healthcare would kick in.
"Technically, I should be eligible," she said. "But at least 20 stores around me have cut hours. I live paycheck to paycheck. I have credit card debts. It's a balancing act. I'm afraid I won't be able to afford healthcare"..

As I have been saying for months now, there simply isn't enough money in a rapidly shrinking American GDP to fund all these potentates hopes and dreams... they will eventually have to come for property.
This has been about them gaining controlling access to individual wealth from the conception.
They need it so much they bought a lot of hollow point ammo and select fire weapons to enforce the taking of it.

And yes even Cj's property no matter how meager it might seem is already counted on the future receivables side of gvt. assets.
If you have money in a bank account it can be taken, they might apologize but it will be taken.

A lot of people will soon be only able to buy at the govt. store using controlled script, possibly on a govt. reservation called FEMA camps.
Does anyone believe that the US patent office needs armor and military weapons?

Death panels might be considered as the most compassionate aspect of Obamacare very soon.
Despite everyone on our side being right from 2007 these dimwits still drop to their knees at the government alter and call us obstructionists - what's coming serves a lot of them right- death by bureaucracy.

But what would you expect from a monster who likes to kill kids half way round the world with his drones..

The real reason nothing was ready is because Obama took that start up money from Medicare and gave it to his ACORN volunteers and teachers unions to create a guidance program which was promptly used for campaigning last year and as a result the core administrators have had a two week course on signing people up, their assistants who were hired last week still have another week of training to do..

Such unfamiliarity grew among those currently uninsured today. Among the uninsured 72 percent said that are not familiar with the exchanges Obama is setting up.

The incident was contained and this guy thought he could get away with a little stick practice, no one was threatening nor attempting to prevent them from effecting a legal arrest.

The reason I get so worked up over these obvious law enforcement issues is because those two dirty cops set the tone of the whole issue, all it takes is a few jackasses to smear the whole department.. it's personal with me.

Yeah Proud, wait until America finds out what Dodd Frank really means..
It means now any bank you put money into becomes the property of the bank while they have it.

.."Under the existing legislation, the FDIC has the power to impose losses on unsecured creditors in the process of resolving failing banks"..
arouchepac.com/dodd-frank

What they have done is set up a net to seize all assets whenever they deem it necessary.
If you have money in the bank all it takes is one signature to put it in probate.

.."As stated in 7.3, it is entirely conceivable for resolution to be triggered by the bank holding company of a foreign nation necessitating the steps of resolution, including bail-in to be enacted within a host nation of that bank.
In the case of the United States, for example, if resolution were to be triggered by a large British bank, such as HSBC, Barclays, or a European bank, such as Deutsche Bank, UBS, etc., the United States would be obligated, based on the FSB agreements, to take part in resolution"..

..see Cyprus for example one- if you have money in the bank, you don't necessarily have money in the bank because they can seize it at any time for any reason- and eventually they will because they didn't write this law by accident.
wake up people, they aren't building that gallows for carpentry practice.

watch that video I provided of the minor incident which turned into assault under the color of law in Denver.. it wasn't just me complaining it was a judge who agreed that there was some laws broken and there was a coordinated attempt to cover it up.

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_17704425

.."Two Denver police officers caught on videotape during a 2009 beating of then-23-year-old Michael DeHerrera would lose their jobs.

Officers Devin Sparks and Randy Murr were terminated effective immediately for "deceptive acts," Manager of Safety Charles Garcia announced during a news conference at city hall. Sparks also was given a 30-day suspension for use of excessive force, although the suspension will have no actual effect because of the termination.

"We cannot and do not tolerate dishonesty in any safety agency. We do not and cannot tolerate excessive force in any safety agency," Garcia said"..
..which part of that official statement is troubling?

Is this the type of Law Enforcement you want to pay for?- I sure as hell don't.

As far as this guy on the traffic stop, he was obviously getting ready to pull a weapon, his body language screamed it out and the cop would have been justified at any point in dropping him in his tracks for advancing with his hands hidden after being given a direct order to get back in the car.
apples and oranges.
This video drives home the point that once you pull the trigger on center mass you keep shooting until it clicks.
one puny ass 9mm or .40 cal round won't do it when they are jacked up, and this guy was obviously jacked.

Here read this article if you don't think juicing is destroying the image of what used to be a nation of Peace Officers since turned Law Enforcement.

Middy, i took no swipe at you, my comment about monday morning Q-backing was in regards to almost every instance where police instinctively react to save their own lives and are accused of OVER reacting a day or ten later.

Already we see people going after the capital police for using guns on the unarmed, crazy woman in DC, who was in fact armed with a 3,500 lethal weapon, one she attempted to use on several officers. The Mon Morn Q-Backs are spouting all manner of scenarios where the police yesterday should have used the pit maneuver or stun guns, or Dr. Phil...all sound reasonable a day later, not while a maniac, who you have no idea of motive or other weapons ie gun / bomb etc, is driving at you with a car and you have nano seconds to react to protect not only yourself but the hordes of tourists scurrying about...Had the lunatic mowed down a dozen kids, or detonated a bomb, the same arm-chair Q-b's would be complaining that cops didn't shoot sooner...It seems a no win?

The video you posted about bad cops does nothing to change my statement, sure there are bad cops and no, I nor anyone I know want to pay for that kind of policing, but police are made up of people and there's always an element of bad in every cross section. There was no sound on the video so I am assuming the over emotional women's room user on the phone (who was waving his arms around)was screaming derogatory things about the cops that were cuffing his pal?, doesn't make what the cop did right, but again cops are people and people, even those trained not to, can lose their tempers.....

Guerena was denied attention, for about one hour, until the team declared the "area secured". Ambulance crews were then notified they were no longer needed, one hour and fourteen minutes after Guerena's wife's call to 911"..

..They intentionally let a innocent dying man bleed out..

.."Officers did not find any evidence related to drug trafficking at Guerena's residence. Police did report that they took one AR-15, one .38 handgun, body armor, and a US Border Patrol cap from the Guerena house after killing him.
All these items are legal to own"..

Tell me what this guy was doing wrong? sleeping in his own bed after working nights?.. they wouldn't let paramedics in for 45 min. to attend the victim.
No drugs, nothing to say he was involved, just a nice day to get some footage in for a COPS tv show.
get the idea??

.."The Sheriff's Department initially claimed that Guerena had fired on officers;(A LIE) at least three of the SWAT members including the team commander reported in their post-operation debriefings that they had observed muzzle flashes aimed at them from inside the house.(A LIE) After an examination of the rifle Guerena allegedly pointed at the officers however, it was determined that the rifle had not been fired; the safety was still engaged.
Other officers claimed they saw splinters from the doorjamb being hit by bullets; the shots that caused this were determined to come from other members of the SWAT team themselves.(THE TRUTH)
"There were five officers at the door beginning to make entry into this home, when they engaged this individual that they believed was actually firing at them. (A LIE) "Other versions of this story claim that officers started shooting after Guerena pointed the gun at them, (AN IMPOSSIBLE LIE) though under questioning they were initially unsure (STOP THE INVESTIGATION AND LET PROFESSIONALS HANDLE IT) whether he had actually moved to target them.
(TRYING TO JUSTIFY THEIR PREVIOUS LIE)
At this point the five person team fired at least 71 rounds at Guerena in less than seven seconds, who died after being hit 22 times"..

So the guy is dead, his kids orphaned and not even an apology.
Sorry if I disagree with some blanket statement that is non germane to the subject of innocent people being killed in an escalating number all across the nation by roided up swat team members who spend their off time playing violent video games and fantasizing over shooting people.

I did a blog years ago about schools prohibiting kids from played good childhood games like tag and dodgeball.

I guess that is still happening:

New Groningen kindergarten teachers in Grand Rapids, Michigan caused some consternation amongst parents recently with a letter they sent home that banned the game of tag and other chase-oriented games.

The letter described the problem of children, "running in packs, pushing, knocking other children over, and making the game dangerous," which as we recall, was half the fun of the game. "We want our children to treat each other with respect, kindness, and with safety in mind," said Ginger Smith, community relationship manager for Zeeland Public Schools, on Friday, in an attempt to clarify the situation.

Apparently, neither the school nor the district have received any direct complaints from parents regarding the policy.

Neil Cavuto is a smart guy and if you want to spar with him, you better bring an extra pair of gloves. Obama is no match.

Neil Cavuto, Fox News, stated directly to President Obama the following on his daily afternoon program last Thursday. The points he makes just couldn't be made any better:

Obama is blaming Fox News for 2/3 of the country disliking Obama care. Here's Neil Cavuto's explanation and it is great. If you don't understand what is bad about ObamaCare please read his comments and you will understand.

Mr. President, Fox News isn't what's making Americans sick about your healthcare law. Your healthcare law is. Welcome, everybody, I'm Neil Cavuto. And excuse this departure from form. But I think this is just poor form. So, it's time we set some things straight.

Mr. President, we at Fox News are not the problem. I hate to break it to you, sir. You are. Your words are. Your promises are. We didn't sell this healthcare law. Sir, you did. Remember this?

President Barack Obama: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period.

Mr. President, tell that to tens of thousands of retirees at IBM and Time Warner and dozens of others, who've been dumped from their coverage and told to find their own coverage. Fox News didn't break that news to them, Mr. President. Their companies did.

Fox News didn't push more of those firms to hire part-time workers. Your healthcare law did. Fox News didn't incentivized fast food restaurants to scale back their benefits. Your healthcare law did. Fox News didn't make doctors want to opt out. Your healthcare law did. Fox News didn't make insurance premiums sky rocket. Your healthcare law did. Just like Fox News didn't grant hundreds of exemptions to companies that needed them. You did. And Fox News didn't delay one key provision after another, including online enrollment for those small business exchanges. You did.

Just like it wasn't Fox News that said we had to pass this to see what was in this. You did. Or was that Nancy Pelosi? Sometimes I'm confused. But of this I am not. Fox News didn't re-do basic math. Sir, you did. Fox News didn't say you can cover 30 million more Americans and not see a hit in premiums. You did. Fox News didn't say you could throw in those with pre-existing conditions and not have to pay for it. You did. Fox News didn't all but say you could get something for nothing. You did. Fox News didn't come back years later and say, oh yea, we did raise some taxes. You did.

Here's where you are right about Fox News, however, Mr. President. We can do math. And did. You cannot. And did not. We said it, and proved it. You didn't. And we're all suffering for it. Take it from the numbers guy at Fox. Numbers don't lie. The number of Americans working part-time and nervous. The number of retirees days away from being dumped on exchanges and anxious. The number of company bosses with any news to pass along on those exchanges, but still clueless. The number of doctors who want out. The number of congressmen now opting out. No, Mr. President, none of those numbers lie.

But with all due respect sir, I can only conclude you do know; I know, I know you hate us at Fox. But please take a look in a mirror, and fast. You think we're the skunk at your picnic. But that doesn't mean we're the ones that stink. Because that smell isn't coming from the folks reporting on your law. Mr. President, that smell is your law.

Obama is giving Fox News more credit than it deserves, if he thinks 2/3 of the populace watches Fox. And the conservatives that watch Fox, have made up their mind a long time ago that Obama care was a socialist program that wouldn't work. 85% were happy with their medical coverage, and of the 15% that didn't have coverage, didn't want it, and/or use Medicaid without paying.

Definitely not a good representation of the talent this team has tho, there was just no chemistry no matter how Dave juggled the lines.
Defense hockey requires a couple of stay at home shutdown types- last night was anything but Coyotes hockey..
They couldn't control either blue line at any time of the game except right after the first goal against.
..next stop... the New Yawk Islanders on Tuesday an early game for us should improve.

If not there has to be changes made.

I bet Neil actually wrote the entire body of that magnificent work, he probably had others give it a second pair of eyes, but I know that he actually believes every word that was spoken..

Andy Napalitano would be an excellent choice to turn this ship around but he is not a political animal, and until we actually revolt and take back the country no decent man can succeed the absolute sewer Washington smear politics represent nor challenge the Politburo's kingdom.

The words of George Washington are example one of an impeccable mind and sterling character; traits we once cherished, attempted to emulate and most certainly demanded of our leadership.

.."I have already intimated to you the danger of parties in the State with particular reference to the founding of them on geographical discriminations.
Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party generally.

This spirit unfortunately is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human mind.
It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but in those of the popular form it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy.

The alternate domination of one faction over another sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities is itself a frightful despotism.

But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism.
The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction more able or more fortunate than his competitors turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty.

Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight) the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.

It serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration.
It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection.
It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which finds a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions.
Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another"..

..need I daresay that this example of brilliant insight, clarity of thought and eloquence is something foreign and incomprehensible for "The Lightbringer" to ever appreciate much less find within his capacity.
It's because he is a hollow and evil man while George Washington was a child of God and a servant of the Constitution first and Nation second.

Soccer, hockey and NASCAR all have one thing in common, they're boring. I've only seen two hockey games back in 1980 when the U.S. team beat the Russians and when the U.S. won the gold medal. That was enough for me.

Give me a good college football game any time.

Pevie Hicks said...

Hockey....BORING?

Man you been to the wrong games!

midnightsstaff said...

I see the Green Bay Crackers beat the hapless Lions again like the yearly drum, and what is the matter with the Beagles?
they took the lunch money away from the Pats today?
..don't give up hope Jim..

Mike must have been watching something other than a hockey game if it was boring, hockey is a ballet on ice with sticks and bare knuckles.
It might be the only real sport left without over riding gang influence.
Mike might have watched an entire curling match- something no man has ever attempted.. that's the only thing that could explain it..

I see Jesse Ventura is off the reservation again, Haha, at least he's not our problem Arizona..

.."Ventura asked if the government's shut down, "That should mean we shouldn't have to pay any taxes, right?"
He called for another American revolution to push back against the "corrupt system" created by Democrats and Republicans in Washington.
He told Piers Morgan the two-party system has legalized "bribery" for access, suggesting he's fed up enough to actually run for president in 2016.
Ventura called both parties "gangs," and Morgan admitted he had to agree, adding that they're "overpaid, underworked children!"..

Well I have to admit that he has a point now if you could just over look a few inconsistencies in his past like running the state of Minnesota into near bankruptcy during his stay as governor and maintaining a unicorn petting zoo of governmental ineptitude, maybe he could be taken a bit more seriously.
..but that's merely my opinion.
Clownafornia doesn't have a corner on the market when it comes to insane political whores.

Mike Slater said...

Middy, hockey is nothing more than soccer on ice. College football is where it's at.

Pevie, I don't watch hockey period.

Stevebuzzardo said...

Take two boring sports and put them together = Sockey

Yeah, that solves the problem..

midnightsstaff said...

Whoa... all of Arizona has spoken, hockey sucks.. guess I'm outvoted...

Just imagine after January when they decide to shut government down to force a budget issue they can then empty and close all the hospitals and command all doctors cease operations until responsible people come around to seeing it their way.

..that must have been the real reason the lofo voters gave him a second run.

After all we can't have normal government operation threatened or held hostage by the wishes of the people it serves..

Both the jailbird wife and I think hockey is great sport, maybe Slater isn't watching it with the right people? We have a number of canuck friends that make the watching almost as much a fast moving contact sport as what's happening on the ice...

BTW, looks like rick has moved on and found employment in commercials?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zebvFBNZ3Mg

midnightsstaff said...

That wasn't Rick, this guy had a clean shirt.

Yeah.. that's the problem hockey is a mystery if you try to watch it on tv to figure out what the fight is over, there is no substitute for a real game experience with this sport.
.. it's the opposite from fooootballl where the camera puts you right in the play and then some guy tells you what you just watched despite what you saw.

Have you ever noticed there is no real derogatory term for Canuks?- it's because simply being a Canadian is derogatory enough in it's own right, no sense in redundancy.

Middy,

I'm sure Neil wrote it; bright guy. No wonder he left those losers at CNN.

As of this morning, 10 days to go. I hope Obama blinks first. I don't see how he can avoid it. he is the one who has us in this pickle. Boehner seems adamant as of the morning; I hope he doesn't buckle.

Even the Republic says the Obamacare rollout was a failure.

I'm with ya on the Judge. I wish Fox would have kept his show.

Jim McAllister said...

How bout those Bengals? Eat your heart out, Brady and keep your ass out of Cincy if you know what is good for you.

Yeah!

As for the Cardinals, they are hopeless; once again no offense. Put Newton on a good team and he kills the Cards yesterday.

Jim McAllister said...

College football? Depends on the game. In most cases I want the NFL although the rule makers are making it less attractive every year. When is the last time you saw a kickoff returned?

I didn't know who to root for Saturday night; I intensely dislike both coaches, Brian Kelly and Todd Graham.

Notre Dame defensive back was not too smnart at the end of the game. ASU throws a hail Mary on 4th down from their own 20 and the dumbass from ND intercepts it on his own 40. Why? Just knock it down and run out the clock, stupid!

College kids! Please!

Jim McAllister said...

Hockey? Soccer?

Well, take it from an expert (me): Soccer sucks under any circumstances. The field is too goddam big and the players are crappy actors who don't score enough.

With hockey it depends on the game. 1-0 games that end in a shootout really suck plus they need to drop the 5 minute overtime and go straight to the shootout in ties.

Nothing can compare to the Dallas-Denver game yesterday (51-48 Denver) Payton is unbelievable while Eli is 0-5. What the hell is that all about?

I was at a bar in Calgary with 3 Canucks from Edmonton and they had the 20 TV sets ALL tuned to the Calgary Flames / Edmonton Oilers game...

Edmonton won which was a good thing for me and my friends, for the other 200 Calgary fans?...not so much!

I can honestly say that I never had so much fun while simultaneously, FEARING FOR MY LIFE!!!...

What a rush, now those were some SERIOUS fans!

The game is the fastest moving there is...spectators have to actually pay attention....ref's don't blow whistles or throw flags every few seconds like they do in basketball or football, and when a penalty (except icing) happens it usually involves a bru-ha-ha on the ice as well as the bar where it's being watched.

Luckily, we didn't get beat up, and all 4 tires of our car still had air when we returned... but did exchange some nice, allbeit vulgar repartee with our hockey loving friends from Calgary.

Jim McAllister said...

PROUD,

That's all verrrrrry interesting but my question is "What the hell are you doing in Calgary?"

I didn't see your request to leave the country come across my desk. I'm half French Canadian and even I stay the hell out of Canada!
