A MEMORIAL DAY SALUTE TO THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED

With the conclusion of the month of May, we have Memorial Day.  It was originally called Decoration Day as it was a time when surviving members of the families of fallen Union soldiers from the Civil War decorated the graves of their relatives who died in that war.   Later on, the meaning and the name was changed to Memorial Day to include all soldiers who had fallen in various other wars.

As a veteran of the United States Air Force (1961-1965), Memorial Day is special.  I was fortunate enough to serve during peace time but the end of May was still a time when my buddies and I took time to show special respect to the guys who preceded us and had physically fought to keep America great.

As an Airman 2nd Class, 1964
I must admit that when I was a kid, I looked at Memorial Day as a day off from school and that is about it. When I turned 18 and got my draft card, I began to have a different outlook.  With that card in my pocket I suddenly faced the fact that I was going to have to serve my country in the Armed Forces whether I liked it or not.  By age 20 I had not been called but knowing it was inevitable, I joined the United States Air Force and was sent to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas for basic training.

It was a case of getting a “baptism of fire” as I was quickly transformed from a kid living at home eating Mom’s cooking to living in a barracks with 70 other guys from 70 different towns and eating in “chow halls.”  Along with that, I had two sergeants constantly telling me and the other guys what a bunch of losers we were and that we better “Shape up!”

It was a classic case of the military using their methods to transform boys into men.  For most of us, it worked as we settled into the program and became troopers.  For about ten guys who couldn’t adjust, they were sent home with the chore ahead of them of explaining to their friends how they couldn’t “cut it.”

After five weeks of basic training, some of us were sent to various tech schools to learn specific jobs.  In my case I was sent to Amarillo Air Force Base in Texas to attend Supply School.   After three months I was assigned to Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri where I spent the rest of my four years except for temporary duty in Germany from June to October of 1963. On September 10, 1965, I was discharged.

In retrospect, it was a great four years.  I did a lot of growing up and met a lot of people from both ends of the spectrum.  In 1973, the government discontinued the draft which I think was a gigantic mistake.  A lot of guys did some serious growing up by serving their country.  It’s a quality sadly missing from many today.

This a very appropriate blog for Memorial Day.
I too joined the Army when I was 25. I had just finished my Internship following Medical School and wasn't mature enough to make a career decision.I had already had some people I knew from my home town killed in Vietnam so I enlisted as a combat surgeon. When my colonel found out I was a pilot he asked if I would go to flight surgeons school and after that was assigned to Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Ga. for the remainder of my enlistment.
That decision was the turning point in my life. I fell in love with Civil War History and went on to do a General Surgical residency followed by a Urological Surgical Fellowship.
I strongly believe that students should serve two years in some position after high school as pay back for being born in a free country. It doesn't necessarily have to be in the military.
I know I am more patriotic and a better person for serving my country. And I fly an American flag every day.

Jim, I salute you and all the vets this holiday, especially those in my family. My father and an uncle served in WW11 and another uncle was in the Korean war. I also have two brothers that served in the army and two cousins, one a marine and one in the navy. We now have a grandson serving in the marines.

Thanks for the comment, JAB.

I agree on the 2 years of service after high school in return for living in the US. It was that way until 1973 when the draft was discontinued. It's easy to see from the actions of a lot of guys if they served or not; especially these days. Those military years taught a lot of people about what life is about and the responsibilities that go with being in the service. I still do certain things I learned in the USAF especially when it comes to appearance and behavior toward others.

Congrats on becoming a doctor. It is an honorable profession that doesn't always get the credit you guys deserve. Also, thanks for your service and for flying the the flag.

Jim McAllister said...

Thanks, Mike.

When I joined the USAF, it was either going to be them or get drafted by the Army. I was 20 and was getting close to receiving a draft notice into the Army. I heard the USAF was better duty even though it was 4 years instead of 2. I figured "What the hell" and joined the USAF. At 20 I figured it would be less confining and maybe more adventure as I wasn't doing much else anyway as far as a career.

I made the right choice. I spent the obligatory time in basic training and tech school then was transferred to Whiteman AFB in Missouri; about 50 miles east of Kansas City. It was good duty on a SAC base and KC was fun on weekends. In June of '63 I got my 4 month hitch to Germany which was a great time at age 22! Then it was back to Missouri until I got out in Sept. '65.

The military has taught a lot of guys about life and life's responsibilities. I've recommended to many guys who seem lost to join up.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone. Be safe.

I joined the Army at 26-years-old under weird circumstances. I was just a country bumpkin and still am naive in many ways. I thought SN was pretty much an angel. I was so ignorant. But the Army was my way out of poverty, a gateway to education and a new life.

Ironically, my military service started because of dreams. Nightmares, maybe. And now I'm going for another sleep lab, because I stop breathing for about 10 minutes per hour and oxygen level drops below normal. So I gotta go in again so they can find a machine that will keep me breathing. There's music and filmmaking. A veteran can't quit, but just adapt and keep on fighting.

Jim McAllister said...

You're right Rick. We vets can't quit, we have to hang in there. Anyone who has ever served will say that that they were never the same person after their service. There is something about the military that changes just about everyone. To this day,I can usually spot ex-servicemen.

Rick Kepple said...

Yeah, well thank God I'm not the same person that I was before the military. Completely lost. And once you get in trouble once, people walk away, but it builds the person you will become along with the military service. I went from construction laborer to writer because of the discipline I learned.

I have done more research on the marijuana issue and if Americans did more research, the Republicans would easily win. In each step of making marijuana illegal, it was a Democrat controlled Congress who did it. Nixon was against it, but he was seriously paranoid and thought the Jews were out to get him. President Bill Clinton had a chance to approve the marijuana patents and he refused to do it. President George W. Bush approved them.

Congress this year approved marijuana for veterans, but only in weed legal states. Missouri's governor is a Democrat. The house and the senate in the assembly are Republican ruled, which is why they passed marijuana decriminalization with a supermajority.

Jim, I was in the draft pool in 1969 when I turned 18. My number wasn't called so I decided to go to college for a couple of years. Then at 20 I got a job with the phone company. They actually gave me more than the starting salary because of the college time. I spent 30 years there and retired at 50. Things worked out for me.

Thank you all for your service. Jim Johnson chandler, az

Rick,

I think pot will become legal everywhere eventually since it has been proven as a help for certain medical problems. They better have serious regulation though; at least in the beginning. It's good that vets should get to use it since they have served and can easily have problems from their duty that pot relieve.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

That was good timing! Being in the right place at the right time!

Jim McAllister said...

Jim,

Good to hear from you. Thanks for the comment

Jim,
Any punk over 18 who gets arrested, should have to serve in the military instead of prison unless they were convicted of a serious crime.
That would solve the prison overcrowding problem and they would have to do something for the country instead of sit on their asses in prison at taxpayer expense.

Jim McAllister said...

Steve,

I don't know if it still happens, but I remember quite a while ago that that happened a few times where guys were given the choice. I know that I may have chosen prison over basic the first few days because they really kicked our asses big time to get us used to basic in a hurry. Fortunately, as we became better troopers it eased up and although I've never been in prison, basic had to be better than being in a cell with a bunch of crooks.

I met some guys who were really incorrigible while at Lackland and after they got with the program, they became pretty good troopers. Any guy who goes there has to be open minded as mommy isn't there top tuck one into bed each night.

Steve Kloscak said...

Jim, I know they did it during the Vietnam war. I used to work with a guy who was given a choice, so he joined the Army and went to Vietnam.

They shouldn't be given a choice. That's what those punks need, to have their asses kicked. Teach them respect and discipline. After they serve they probably won't go back to a life of crime.

Rick Kepple said...

Jimmy, can you imagine that a news publisher actually accused me of trolling and causing some wealthy landlord time in federal prison. "We should have known you used to work for the Republicans!" and then he kicked me off. Liberals.

Missouri rich dude pleads guilty to a $18.2 million fraud scheme.

Jen's decided to stay after all. She reminds me of SN with her vile temper.

Happy Memorial Day, Jimmy and Barb. Be careful of Trump rallies.

Jim McAllister said...

Steve,

I knew a few guys like that in basic at San Antonio and later at Whiteman in Missouri. One little twerp from Cleveland was named "Rico" and he thought he was really tough. Some of the guys in the barracks cornered him one night and explained the facts of life to him as far as behavior. He was pretty good after that.

Jim McAllister said...

Rick,

Good to hear that Jen is going to stay around. Sounds like you turned on the old Kepple charm and got her to stay.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, remember when Elvis Presley was drafted into the army back in the 50's. He must have been the richest guy in the U.S. army.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

I have always used Elvis as a barometer on the military draft. With all his wealth and fame he went ahead and served. If he ever bitched about it, I never heard it. Elvis was a stud!

Lots of other famous guys went in too like Willie Mays, Johnny Podres, etc. It was what happened in those days. When the draft ended in 1973, it let a lot of guys off the hook. I was 20 when I went in and the handwriting was on the wall: That draft notice was due at any time so I decided to join the USAF rather than get drafted into the Army and sleep in fox holes while eating C-rations for two years.

I was fortunate to get some decent duty serving in Missouri with a 4 month stint from June to October of '63 in Germany. I drank a lot of Heineken's and Lowenbrau that summer. On base Heineken's was a 10 cents a bottle and Lowenbrau was 15 cents. Oh, to be 22 again and have a deal like that! LOL

Rick Kepple said...

Ha ha, old Kepple charm. No, I just waited until she saw that she couldn't make it alone. I'm a nice guy is all.

Hey, I found this resort property for sale near Crocker, Missouri with a stable, tennis court, a 9 hole golf course and it's about $1.3 million. I figure that if I could get $3 million, we could buy the property, create a music studio and a movie production facility on the land and the tourists can get to be extras on any film we are making. http://www.landsofmissouri.com/property/17751-Resort-Road-Crocker-Missouri-65452/3105043

Don told me that people invest in ideas and not people. I know it's a bit off the beaten path, but I do believe it could work. It would be fun, Jimmy! You and Barb could live there! Golf, tennis, fishing on the adjacent river. We'd need a stage too and MC for that!

Mike Slater said...

Jim, I worked with a guy at the phone company that got drafted in the late 50's around the time Elvis did. He told me they serve warm beer in Germany. Is that true? I have to have my beer ice cold. I can't imagine drinking warm beer.

Rick Kepple said...

Thanks for the advice on the business idea, Jimmy. Another business owner of several outlets told me that Ideas are Kings sourced from commoners. So I scrapped the idea.

Food Stamps recipients are losing their benefits if they can't find a job that pays tax deductions and no more mowing yards for cash. No more steak and lobster for Food Stamps recipients. I can't even find anyone to help me for cash in the garden anymore! Sold the tractor like an idiot. I am more careful about whom I listen to now and their motives.

Jen's not moving, because of the Food Stamps changes. She reminds me of an impoverished SN. Really sweet girl, but too trusting of people. And the engineer is of no help at all now. Need to figure out how to make money from the studio, because there's no tractor for that income. There's no other alternative for money making. If the government would legalize weed, there might be hope, but we have rich idiots for leaders.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

That's true in a large part of Germany. I went to one bar in Kaiserslautern and they pulled a bottle right out of a case sitting at room temperature. However, if there are American bases nearby they have plenty of cold beer. Those bars know what the soldiers want.

The bases where I was had good Airman's clubs too and it was all nice and cold there. I'm with you; I don't want beer where the temperature is the same as pee.!

It was a great summer: Icy10 cent Heineken's and 15 cent Lowenbrau for four months. I almost hated to leave!

Arizona Dave said...

JIm,

Sorry I'm a couple of days late responding to your beautifully written Memorial Day article...they say, "you speak with your mind, but you write from your heart", and I think all veterans have a big heart for their country.

I was at Lackland Air Force Base in December 1960 til May, 1961, going through basic training and my tech school, also in San Antonio, which was the Air Police...then activated for a short period in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Attack which was short lived due to Russia pulling back the rockets.... doesn't seem like almost 55 years ago.

You are absolutely right about the military being a catalyst for a successful life. Every young person would benefit what you and I felt we learned about serving in the military.

....and I have now 'Shot My Age' in golf 33 times.... didn't learn the game of golf in the military, but learned everything else about respect, discipline, and certainly appreciating Memorial Day and those who gave their lives for our freedoms.

Happy Memorial Day three days late!!!!!!!

Jim McAllister said...

Thanks, Dave.

Congrats for making it through 6 months at Lackland. I arrived there on September 11, 1961, about 3 months after you left that paradise. I'm sure you and I could trade many Lackland stories back and forth!

I was at Whiteman in Missouri during the Cuban Missile crisis in '62. I didn't have much to do as I was in Supply Liason and since all our B-47s were dispatched to the east coast in case they had to go to Cuba, my job was at a standstill. It sure was a relief when Khruschev blinked!

Yes, the military offered a lot of guys the opportunity to grow up even if they didn't intentionally plan it. While I didn't initially enjoy the idea of having to serve, in retrospect it was one of the best and most important eras of my life. I would have hated to miss out on the experiences that I had which included a four month TDY to Germany in the summer of 1963. Today, when I see the way some of the young guys behave, I always think how they could use a hitch to learn a little bit about life.

I wish I had your ability in golf. If I shoot my age I will have to be over 100!

Take care!

Jim, looks like summer is here. We had a great May but June is coming in with a vengeance. I remember back in 1990 we had 120 and 122 in June. Now that I'm retired I rarely go outside unless I have to. One good thing is the snowbirds are leaving. I went to the store today and didn't see any out of state plates.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike, Yeah, it's nice to see the reduced traffic and those Minnesota and Illinois plates heading north. Really hot today and 116 forecast for this week. Typical June.

I well remember that 122 in June, 1990. I had only been here full time for a year and had bought a house in north Scottsdale with a load controller which wouldn't allow the air to stay on long enough to cool the house. Needless to say, I got rid of that thing.

How about that scum at the Trump event in San Jose. They are too stupid to know that the average decent citizen is turned off by their behavior. I hope that those incidents against the Trump supporters wake up some voters as to what trash those people are and that a vote for Hillary is a stamp of approval for them.

We are dealing with some real jerks this time. I have to pinch myself to believe this crap is going on in this country.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, I remember the 120 and 122 very well. I was working at Dove Valley and Cave Creek because a piece of equipment would fail every day about 2 PM so we decided to replace it. I must of drank 5 gallons of water those days.

I had the opposite problem when I bought a house in New River with a heat pump. If it got really cold the heater wouldn't work. Luckily we had a fireplace to warm it up.

I notice a pattern in these Trump protests. I don't see many cops or police dogs or fire hoses. The Mayor of San Jose is a Democrat and Hillary supporter and blames Trump for the protests. Very few arrests are made. I'm tired of the protester burning the American flag and carrying Mexican flags. If they want to burn the American flag they should wrap it around themselves in it and then light it.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

I would be surprised if anyone was arrested in California for their behavior toward the Trump campaign. The place is full of illegals and nobody there cares. Hopefully, people from other more mature and intelligent areas are watching in disgust and will be sure to offset those clowns who did bottle and egg throwing at Trump followers. Their behavior is typical of what to expect from many Dems and the country should be aware of it. Those clowns do not deserve to live in this country.

Rick Kepple said...

Great blog, Jimmy. I never put flowers by Dora's urn this year. She's always on the farm! See her every day and occasional visitors see her ghostly form.

Trump got a lot of support after what the protestors did to that horse and that woman! They act like they're in Mexico! That's not how you behave in a civilized nation! No animal cruelty and no abusing women! They act like socialists!

I had the company tech reset the computer and it's working well now! Then "Ozarks Trackers: Episode 5" just got a great review from another writer on Facebook with "Strange Travels" and he's on the east side of Missouri! That episode has four times as many views as any other! Except the fox in the woods video ... it's got thousands of views.

Jim McAllister said...

Thanks, Rick, glad you liked the blog.

The more I watch the campaigning the harder it is to see who is ahead. I like Trump over Hillary, that's for sure. Every time her followers act crude I rejoice and hope the real America is watching and taking notes. There are going to be some broken heads before this is over.

I don't know who will win but it will be a relief to get dumb ass Obama and his ignorant wife out of there. He is the embarrassment of the century for this once great country.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, I notice most of the trump protesters live in cities run by Democrats. I wouldn't be surprised if George Soros is funding them. California is a crap hole and I will never go there again. The illegals want California given back to Mexico. I say do it.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

California is nothing but a hell hole anymore. It's sad because it used to be beautiful out there. I drove there in 1959 from Cincinnati at age`18 to visit a girl I had met in Cincinnati that summer. It was beautiful there and we went to the beach and some other places and had a great time. People were friendly, the traffic was minimal and everything seemed idyllic. Quite a contrast to now. It's a shame.

I agree, give the damn place back to Mexico and make some A-hole like George Clooney the mayor.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, I lived in California from the time I was one until I was nine. My two brothers were born there, although they don't like to admit. We moved back to Phoenix in 1960 because I had asthma real bad and had to carry an inhaler all the time. Our doctor told my parents a warm dry climate would help me.

I'm glad we moved back.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

Wise decision by your parents to move back to Phoenix. It helped your health and got you away from a bunch of liberal phonies on the west coast.

With the flood of illegals out there plus the liberal nonsense from Hollywood, I don't know how anyone can stand the place. They are showing their true colors now with the riots at Trump's rallies. In San Jose the cops were told by the chief of police to stand down and allow the rioting. That's the mentality we have from those idiots. I hope Americans with brains are watching and will vote correctly for Trump.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, I guess getting sick pays off some times.

I have two nieces born and raised in Phoenix but live in San Francisco because of their husbands jobs. They are both Republicans. One niece's husband just got a job in Dallas so she can escape California. The other one is not so lucky. Her husband was born there and will never leave. I feel sorry for her.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

It's sad that the libs have taken over California. I was in LA in August of '59 and really loved the place after growing up in the rainy and cold mid-west. I went to the beach a lot and had a great time with that babe I met in Cincy showing me around. Now it is a sh-t hole with bad air and a bunch of stupid ass liberals running it.

Barb and I were in San Fran in 1975 for a vacation and had a great time there. Now, that is a hell hole too. Too many libs and too many illegals. In a way, I like seeing those fools act the way they do as they might swing some voters to Trump because of their bad behavior. One can only hope. He will need all the help he can get because the Republicans really dislike him; especially now since he is blasting that Hispanic judge over his Trump U.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, I see our own senator Flake said he can't endorse Trump or vote for him. I sent him an e-mail informing him I can no longer support him. If a Republican can't support the Party nominee they should change parties.

This is the kind of stuff that made me leave the Republican Party.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

I saw that this morning. What a couple of a-hole senators we have. Both of them are a joke and should be kicked out.

Lindsey Graham is another one, f--ing jealous loser. I hate politics more everyday; a truly rotten business.

Rick Kepple said...

Mick, my kitten, almost hung himself with a telephone cord today by accident. He was about one breath away from going into the light when I came in from outside!

A friend took me driving around the other evening and I filmed some nice back roads. Songwriters gave me permission to use their tunes and I'm making a driving video. I'm told that people want to see that stuff. Some nice countryside and great music too!

I'm very pleased that the Latino population and others have admitted that they are racists. That's very big of them.

BTW, Missouri has concealed carry without a permit now. Nope, still not packing in town, but I sometimes do when I go to the woods. There's more of a chance that I'll be charged by a wild hog than attacked by racist hoards. Now, if I lived in California or Phoenix, that would be a different story. Y'all be careful.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, I'm getting more disillusioned by the day. Obama just endorsed Hillary for president saying she's the most qualified candidate ever. I almost threw up in my mouth. He forgot to mention she's the first candidate to be under a criminal investigation by the FBI.

If she wins the country is doomed.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

No surprise there! He sure wasn't going to endorse Trump or Sanders. The thing that bothers me the most is how the Republicans like McCain, Flake, Ryan, etc. and others refuse to endorse Trump. In the long run it may help him as most Republican voters are very pissed off about it.

Pocahontas would love to be her VP running mate! Please pinch me and tell me this is all a bad dream. Actually that ticket would probably go down in flames in a hurry.

The Dems are sure digging up all the dirt they can on Trump. That's good in a way: It shows they may be a bit worried. Nothing surprises me anymore. It just shows how much this country has slipped. The welfare state has become too comfortable for a lot of people. They are too used to those government checks coming to them every month. It's sad when we think of the days when people had integrity and only would take welfare only in extreme circumstances. Today, they count on it.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, what worries me the most if Hillary wins is she can nominate 2 or 3 liberal judges to the Supreme Court. Hillary doesn't like guns and has said she will take on the NRA. With that view you know what kind of judges she would pick.

The 9th circus court just ruled on a case in California that citizens of California have no constitutional right to carry a concealed weapon. That goes against the 2nd amendment. Put a few more liberal gun hating judges on the SC and it's goodbye rights.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

I saw that about California. No big surprise. No question about it; if she gets in it will be a bad deal.

I'm disappointed in this country for their acceptance of her. I only hope that Trump can win and put her away for good. Unfortunately his numbers are slipping a bit but there is always hope for a silent majority.

I don't have much faith in voters anymore. This is not the country we grew up in. People used to detest welfare based a lot on their pride. Today, not much pride as there used to be.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, I agree on the voters. I see it on Waters World all the time. Some people are just stupid. Of course most of them have had a public education. As the saying goes you can't fix stupid.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

I love Watters' World. He is the perfect guy for that job as he has that shit eating little grin on his face while he makes all those dummy liberals look like the fools that they are. Jay Leno was also very good at that with his "Jay Walking" segment.

Most of those idiots are so far from reality it is almost funny. I remember one woman saying she liked Obama because "He said he would take care of me." That's the mentality we have with liberals. Do they want to go to school to improve themselves and get a better job? Hell no, they want the government to take care of them. That kind of thinking used to be shameful. Now it is routine under the leadership of losers like Obama and Clinton.

Rick Kepple said...

Jen and I had dinner out, Jimmy. Yeah, I almost fainted too. We're going shopping today. She doesn't like me talking politics, because she likes life very simple. The woman works very hard as a logger and she doesn't qualify for Obamacare for an inexpensive price. No kids, so she doesn't qualify for Medicaid. She likes her beer cold, river floating for fun and I got her involved in learning electric guitar. Donald Trump promises to help the logging industry and it's about extinct in Missouri. Jen works a few days a month anymore, and that means when the construction picks up, lumber will be imported.

I looked at some item today and I don't recall what it was, but not food. Manufacturing country of origin could not be verified, it said. Pretty bad when the American company hiring Communists can't admit they're doing it now.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, after the shootings in Florida I expect the left will be calling for more gun control like they always do. Obama and Hillary hate guns and the 2nd amendment but are surrounded by armed Secret Service agents at all times.

Jim McAllister said...

Rick,

Sounds like you and Jen had a nice time out.

I think Trump's chances just went up after the shooting in Orlando and Obama's typical reaction to it. IU hope so.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

Of course! Stupid asses like BO and Hillary are so far out of touch with reality that they are even more clueless than we probably know.

50 people dead because of the goddam terrorists and he still has trouble admitting it. He should resign at once and be man enough to admit he doesn't know what the hell he is doing. Of course, we have known that all along; he doesn't resemble any men that I know. He is a weakling.

At least this should help Trump a bit. He has called for keeping illegals out all along and now they have walked in and killed 50. Like him or not, he deserves a lot of support to get this country back to its old self when we didn't take shit from anyone.

Rick Kepple said...

I don't like this, Jimmy. Sanders has already said that Americans must be disarmed. I'll bet gun sales are up, not down. Incredibly, Obama will probably say the same.

Remember months ago, when I said there was an ISIS fighter who was on Facebook talking in foreign and suddenly he switched to English? This was why in Orlando. It's to train the poor folks left behind who want to be ISIS fighters. Terrorist correspondence courses.

If only there were a way to figure out who in our population were likely to be in ISIS. What group would they belong to? Maybe religious? Who would join ISIS? Gosh, that's the tough one. Can I call a friend at home?

Mike Slater said...

Jim, Trump seems to be connecting to lots of people. I think he has a real chance to win it.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

Let's hope so. I liked his response to the Orlando thing. The way BO responded to him tells me he might disagree with me! LOL

Jim McAllister said...

Thanks, Rick. I'll check it out. Yeah, there are some things i miss about Missouri. I see my old sergeant I worked for is still there down in Coldwater. I'm going to give him a call if I can find a number.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

It's a typical case of whiny liberals afraid of their own shadow and the fear that they may say something to offend someone else. I see that Obama is already half ass apologizing to Muslims over what Trump said. He is a wimp in an era where we need a real man as President, not a whiny loser like him. We can only hope that Trump is the guy. If we get Hillary, we will be getting more of the same as Obama; something this country can't afford to have for 4 more years.

I see where the anti gun Democrats walked out of Congress yesterday because they can't get the Reps to pass stronger gun laws. As if that would help! Bunch of damn losers.

Rick,

Gun sales have to be soaring. I see where the Dems walked out of Congress the other day because the Reps wouldn't propose gun bans. What fools they are. When these guys get serious and come over here seriously, we better have as much firepower as possible. It's starting to happen already.

Jim, I see the Republicans caved in to the Democrats again and agreed to have a vote on more gun control laws. The Republicans are wimps.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

It never ends with these A-holes. Maybe we should start a "Screw you Obama" third party. We probably would have plenty of members with the way things are going with the wimp Republicans. The 2014 takeover of Congress by those losers hasn't helped us at all. A total disappointment. We can only hope that Trump has enough steam to win on his own over Hillary. The Repubs are a hindrance more than a help.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, now you know why I left the Republican Party years ago. I got my mom to leave now I'm working on Deb. The Republicans don't represent us anymore. They might as well be Democrats.

I heard on Rush today that gays are buying guns. Good for them. They realize the government can't protect them. They may even vote for Trump.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

How about France closing 160 mosques. After what they have gone through I can't blame them. England is already ruined; they will never reverse it there.

I threw a BBQ for myself and few people came. I just decided that I'm going to start doing nice things for myself and Jen, of course. Our birthdays are a few days apart.

That Orlando thing really makes no sense. One gun enthusiast noted the weight of the clips and ammunition with an 8 pound AR-15 and all together, I think he had maybe 100 pounds of gear.

A Muslim terrorist just happened to pick a gay nightclub frequented by Latinos and no one even made mention of that part. A Muslim went after Latinos should be the story, but it's not. The narrative is terrorists against gays instead with the need for controlling the guns of everyone else.

I smell a rat.

The guy shooter called his wife to check in like he was out for a normal early morning in Islam. Where's a guy learn that emotional frostbite? That's training of the mind.

I found an ISIS created training manual for Lone WOlves in the United States, English version. It's still on the Internet! [insert lots of expletives]

Here's the ISIS manual for Lone Wolves. Be careful with this.

Good points, Rick.

It was another excuse for Obama to shoot his uninformed mouth off about the danger of guns. Fortunately, we are close to getting rid of him and he will totally disappear next January forever. He is a total embarrassment and will forever be a blot on this once great country.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, nice to see all the gun control bills failed in the senate yesterday. More gun laws won't stop shootings. Every time there is a shooting the media and politicians always focus on the gun instead of the shooter. I had a discussion with Laurie Roberts about that last week.

Liberals don't own guns and no nothing about them yet pretend they do. They love to call the AR-15 an assault weapon which it isn't. It's merely a semiautomatic rifle. A true assault weapon is a fully automatic weapon.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

Now I see where they are trying to water the bills down a bit in order to get SOMETHING passed. It's too ignorant to even consider. I don't know where we find these fools who blame the guns and not the reasoning of those who do the shooting. I don't care how many laws there are banning guns. There will always be ways to get one if someone really wants one.

Idiots like Obama and his fellow Dems haven't an ounce of common sense. I remember as a kid how fireworks were strictly forbidden by law in Ohio. They thought that would surely stop the danger involved and it did to a point. However, although fireworks stands didn't sell them anymore we simply bought them from the many guys who were selling them out of the trunks of '48 Chevys in alleys around town. We got all the M-80's and cherry bombs we wanted.

Where there is a will there is always a way. That's something do-gooders don't understand and never will.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, you're right of course. After every mass shooting all I hear from the left is we have to do something which means more gun control laws that don't work. Now I see some house Democrats are throwing a tantrum on the house floor because they can't pass more gun control laws. They look like two year old children.

Laurie Roberts has the answer to stop mass shootings, simply ban high capacity magazines. I bet this woman has never owned guns and knows nothing about guns.

Arizona has banned fireworks for years. We would just go to New Mexico and get all the fireworks we wanted.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

I love the picture of those dummies sitting on the floor in the House; especially that dumb ass Black guy in the middle. I forget his name but I think he is from some place like Maryland or Illinois. They are all dumb shits just trying to get some face time in the media and score some points with that sorry ass we have in the White House.

The good thing about Laurie Roberts and the rest of those losers at the Republic is that the paper's days are numbered. It keeps getting smaller and people keep getting let go. The delivery guy throws about 2 or 3 papers on our whole street in the morning. Hopefully Roberts, Benson, Valdez and the rest of those losers will disappear soon. The newspaper business in general is over.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, I guess those liberal Democrats in the house don't realize they aren't in charge anymore.
They don't have the votes to do anything.

I see Obama got slapped down again on his illegal executive order on immigration. Can't wait for that POS to be gone.

I want to see Montini go first. He's a total A-hole.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

I love that photo of Obama on Twitter where tears are rolling down his cheeks. It is so much fun to see him slapped in the face on his stupid ideas. He doesn't care about the welfare of aliens; he is only interested in his half ass legacy. Screw his legacy and the horse it rode in on.

As for those dummies laying on the floor in Congress, they are as stupid as their leader. They don't
realize that the bad guys have their way of getting guns regardless of new laws prohibiting them.

I agree on Montini; total whiny liberal as is Valdez, Benson, Roberts and the rest of those phonies at the Republic.

Mike Slater said...

Jim, Obama won't even use the words illegal aliens just like he won't say Islamic terrorists.I don't know why Obama worries about his legacy. His whole time in office has been a total failure.

The Democrats in the House are as clueless about guns as the Arizona Republic.
