IN RETROSPECT, YESTERDAY IS LIKE A DREAM

It seems like the good old USA we used to know is coming apart at the seams.

We now have a president whose ego is bigger than all outdoors and suddenly people are coming out of the woodwork with guns ambushing kids in classrooms.

The president wants higher taxes to feed his welfare state as we have now gone through two or three generations of people who have never considered working any harder than to lift a free check.

The free enterprise system that made this country successful is being taxed more so a spend happy federal government can become a bigger yet unneeded and unwanted device to fleece the makers in favor of the takers under the guise of "I think it is better when the wealth is spread around."  Surprisingly, many have been gullible enough to believe such nonsense.

They are getting a course in reality lately though as there is quite a bit of ire concerning the rise in social security taxes.  Suddenly, losing about $70 per paycheck is not so pleasant.  Did they actually think that spreading the wealth around would not include contributions from them? (More on my blog at "azcvoices")

Let's take a moment and look back to a time when things made a bit more sense.  I'm not talking Huckleberry Finn times but more like things were when many of us were younger.

Can you identify the items from the past in the following photos?  Good luck!

What is it?

Any idea what these are?

Have you used one of these lately?

It's not a midieval torture device.  What is
it?

What is that contraption next to
Lucy and Ethel?

Remember these?  Very heavy!

What is grandma doing?

What is this area on the house below called?

                        What are these two items?

Hi Jim!

I recognize every one of those items in the pics...and grew up using most of them. In fact, when we had returnable pop bottles, I used to go out almost every day looking for bottles to redeem for the 2 cent deposit which not only gave me exercise....but extra spending money to boot!

Well the first one needs a coal bin to operate...The wash tub and wringer sure brings back some memories, I completely understand why the push mower is sitting where it is(half way through some tall grass)We still have an antenna in our attic that used to help the radio reception, still use cloths pins to hold the sheets on our plants when it frosts,
And wouldn't it be nice to be able sit on your front porch, saying how-dy to neighbors as they passed by, w/o having to worry about a drive-by-shooter?

Looks like a balcony that some fool put on the front of the house and way too low.

Jim:

I am out of town on a legal matter but just had to comment. You do realize if Eisenhower was alive (or President) today, he'd be a Democrat. Today's GOP would have NOTHING to do with him. Also, the higest income tax rates during Eisenhower's time was approx. 90% on incomes over $400,000.00. Be careful what you wish for. Joe

midnightsstaff said...

And if JFK was alive he would be a tea party member.. good for the goose, sauce for the gander Joe.
In fact in this speech he addressed the very tax rates you brought up Joe..

http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/jfkeconomicclubaddress.html

John F. Kennedy
Address to the Economic Club of New York
delivered 14 December 1962..

Oh yeah.. that was before you were born..

.."Our true choice is not between tax reduction, on the one hand, and the avoidance of large federal deficits on the other. It is increasingly clear that no matter what party is in power, so long as our national security needs keep rising, an economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough revenues to balance our budget — just as it will never produce enough jobs or enough profits. Surely the lesson of the last decade is that budget deficits are not caused by wild-eyed spenders but by slow economic growth and periodic recessions, and any new recession would break all deficit records.

In short, it is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high today and tax revenues are too low and the soundest way to raise the revenues in the long run is to cut the rates now. The experience of a number of European countries and Japan have borne this out. This country's own experience with tax reduction in 1954 has borne this out. And the reason is that only full employment can balance the budget, and tax reduction can pave the way to that employment. The purpose of cutting taxes now is not to incur a budget deficit, but to achieve the more prosperous, expanding economy which can bring a budget surplus.

I repeat: our practical choice is not between a tax-cut deficit and a budgetary surplus. It is between two kinds of deficits: a chronic deficit of inertia, as the unwanted result of inadequate revenues and a restricted economy, or a temporary deficit of transition, resulting from a tax cut designed to boost the economy, increase tax revenues, and achieve, I believe — and I believe this can be done — a budget surplus. The first type of deficit is a sign of waste and weakness; the second reflects an investment in the future"

surprised a smart guy like you didn't know this...

Well, I have to fix this. One of my friends is severely hurt by something a man said about her.

Stevie Nicks is my friend and she's not dead to me and I'm not dead to her. I need to ignore Middy. Stevie's nice and I gotta start doing two things; stop talking about her and that I do love her and I'm sorry.

So no more SN mentions. I hope she can forgive me.

That's a nice porch in the last photograph, Jim. Boy, it would be nice to sell the farm and buy a little home in a town with a little yard, white picket fence, my dogs, friendly neighbors, and friendly people who work for the city. Lovely.

I remember all those photos. The tub and washboard was what I used for a bathtub for years on a farm without running water.

A clothesline? Dude, I still have one.

Heck, you can see all those things in Missouri.

***brilliant!***

Local thugs used to show a bit of professional respect for the cops..
now they don't treat them any better than their usual victims.

Maybe they should have a cash for guns and see if they can get some of them back. ror..

sam said...

Hehe...have multiple recollections of all those...both as to intended usage and others we kids could dream up.....for example, a blanket thrown over a loosened clothesline made a great tent...as well as a restraint for small child tied to a harness secured in the back tied to the line so could move around without leaving the yard. And, what Grandma is doing is preparing to re-do her washing she just hung on her line.

Jim, the first picture looks like some kind of furnance. Growing up in Phoenix I never saw that.

The wash board and the wringer I remember because my grandmother used them in the 50's and 60's.

I gave up the push mower when I put in desert landscaping.

The TV antenna was an improvement over the old rabbit ears on top of the TV.

I remember the old coke bottles we used to get out of the vending machine for a nickel.

The clothes line is something Deb refuses to do.

I looks like clothes pins to hang clothes on the line. The other picture I don't know.

The last one looks like a front porch.

Is he getting a prize or something?
I gotta re read the rules.

I say the first one is
1. a high school metal shop project.
2. a musical instrument.
3. Hey.. where did that kid I paid to mow the lawn go?
4. a ShamWow maker.
5. a couple of pigeons.
6.Post office finally delivers a case of coke sent in 1953 to Whitefish Montana from Atlanta Ga.
7. solar clothes dryer technician.
8. reeds out of my duck call.. and an Acme products suicide kit.
9. the first part of a gingerbread house normally eaten.

what do I win?

It's amazing that people like Joe come by throw a bomb and then cannot defend their specious accusations.

You would think I would be used to that by now but it still gives me pause to think of the implications of a voting public that is entirely uninformed by design.

Maybe don W can fill me in on the economic benefit of having no national budget for half a decade, or a debt ceiling, or the constructing of a tax system that is flexible enough to allow campaign donors like GE and others to have absolutely no tax liability or even get a tax refund while raising it on the middle class and eliminating all normal deductions.

Explain the media justification for all the squandering of real taxpayer money on political payback ventures that are assured of failure.

Yeah maybe don can sort this out for me.

Anyone notice how it only took a mere 48 hours after getting their tax increase for Democrats to start looking for new ways to get more?

Have to give them props for 'creativity'...circumventing the constitution....now a magical TRILLION DOLLAR COIN....

Hi Sonny,

The local deli owner used to really frown when kids would bring in a wagon load of returnable bottles with cobwebs and spiders, etc.

Those bottles were our only source of income in the days when candy bars were full size for a nickel and Cokes were a nickel.

They should have kept returnables; there wouldn't be such a trash problem now.

Jim McAllister said...

Proud,

I'm glad you enjoyed seeing all that Americana.

Porches seem non-existent in Arizona but up north they still are a big deal. In the evenings before air conditioning, people would sit on the porch and talk to their neighbors. Today AC and TV have replaced that activity.

I cut many a lawn with a push motor. I was sure glad when Briggs and Stratton came along!

Jim McAllister said...

Middy,

Yeah, what was that guy thinking!?

Jim McAllister said...

Joe,

Funny but I don't remember anyone complaining about Ike and his programs while Obama is despised by 50% of the population.

Could it be that many voters are now finding out that this guy is going to cost them more than they could have dreamed to pay off all his entitlement crappola?

Ya know, rich people aren't all that bad and they aren't stupid either. Let's see how popular O is after all workers have to go part time.

Jim McAllister said...

Middy,

Thanks for digging that Kennedy information up.

Any comment, Joe?

Jim McAllister said...

Rick,

A little house like that in some town like Waynesville would be nice.

There is something besides the clothesline in that photo of grandma hanging up the wash. Can you see it?

Jim McAllister said...

Middy,

Guns stolen from the cops. Unbelievable and from KC's finest too.

What the hell are they doing leaving their guns in the cars? What is it we know about this stuff that they don't?

Hey cops! Try using some common sense!

Jim McAllister said...

Sam,

You're right about a tent being a good use and attaching a kid to the line.

I don't think grandma is preparing to re-do the laundry but there is something involved in that photo regarding a certain item no one has mentioned yet.

Jim McAllister said...

Mike,

That first photo is a coal furnace. I scooped up many a "clinker" from them. Clinkers were the residue of the coal which we would put in cans by the curb for the weekly trash pickup. Those ashes were good too if a driveway was slippery and you need some traction.

I lifted a lot of those old wooden cases of 6 ounce coke bottles at a store where I worked.

Those are clothes pins as you mentioned.

Middy,

Those old wood coke cases wewre really heavy. The 6 oz. bottles were heavy too; it was hard to break one.

I mused to see open air semis of those filled coke cases go by and they all had extra wheels to handle the weight.

Jim McAllister said...

How about it, Joe? Interesting questions from Middy. Especially about GE. Any comment?

Middy, Save your breath on Don. He is so far gone he thinks Michelle is cute. Yikes!

Jim McAllister said...

Proud,

That trillion dollar coin is hilarious. Leave it to this administration to come up with that.

"Needless spending?" They don't know the definition of the words.

They could have saved millions by keeping Michelle out of the mix with her stupid lunch programs.

They finally gave up on it. I'm proud of the kids for rebuking her and her self appointed nonsense.

Jim McAllister said...

There are two items no one has mentioned yet or been able to define:

1. No one has mentioned the "clothes prop" grandma is using to prop up the clothes line to keep the clothes from touching from touching the ground.

Usually a clothes prop was a pole shaped item but grandma seems to like the heavy duty version which looks like a long 2 x 4.

2. The little gas burners next to the clothespins were located in the basement of older homes and were used to boil starch for the clothes that required starch.

Our house in Cincinnati was built in 1890 and had a nice set of those burners. By the time we moved there in 1949 they were no longer a popular item.

Today is Elvis's birthday. He would have been 78.

It also is my 51st anniversary of the day I shipped in to Whiteman Air Force Base in beautiful Knob Noster, Missouri. (January 8, 1962)

There was snow all over and it was 15 below zero. And to think that during basic training I thought I might ship to Hawaii or some other paradise.

I was driving a '57 Chevy at the time and it was one of the few cars in the parking lot of the transient barracks that would start that morning.

Fun memory.

PROUD said...

Jim, when I was a kid (inner city Cleveland) we had a coal bin, and a furnace that looked a lot like the pic. Loved watching the coal man back up to the steel clad basement window and sliding the stuff down the chute. Took a while for the dust to settle. That house like yours was built in late 1800's, also had a root cellar under the front porch which was accessible from the basement, and a milk chute / door, where the milk man would open the outside door, put in some glass bottles of milk, and we could get them from inside....Good memories, though I drove by a couple years ago and 30 guys tried to sell me crack!

BTW, that old house had cool, old fashioned sash windows, that had lead counter weights built into the jambs

correction.. Obama is despised by 50%- 70% of the American population - you're welcome.

or "No problem" as the airheads say.

That phrase makes me want to punch someone in the face every time I hear it.. what ever happened to "you're welcome"?
Another example of the coarsening/cheapening of the language I suppose.

So answer me why we have pretty much evolved past the coal furnace and push lawn mower - we no longer have to do laundry by hand and tv reception is clear as life but everything is completely out of sorts.
why is that Jim?

I just paid tax on milk and bread.. when did we start considering basic raw food purchases as a taxable event?

And why is the standard of living plummeting in the greatest nation ever conceived by man.

I guess there is no use asking Joe.

"A little house like that in some town like Waynesville would be nice."

Yeah. I'd love to have a lovely little home like that, maybe in Colorado or Flagstaff. Some place that I can sit on that porch with the electric guitar. A backyard flock of chickens, some setting to hatch out new babies and most laying.

I've got one setter now, but they don't always stay for the entire 21 days to hatch out chicks.

A lovely home like that with an old furnace, clothesline and perhaps a small barn with workshop would be perfect.

Retro is the big thing these days!

Some soda pop is being made with sugar and put in glass bottles. I buy only milk in glass jars now. Cream-top, whole milk.

No more pills. No alcohol.

I would absolutely love to live in a home like that ... with a video/music studio out back and my roommates live in microhouses behind the barn. And we all work for the company creating a product on the Internet.

There are lots of people like me and Jimmy in the pages of Countryside Magazine.

I don't know. Maybe not Flagstaff, but a lovely small town with really fast Internet. And a lovely porch like that with a beautiful friend that's a woman, but not necessarily a girlfriend.

I live in a lovely home in the forest. Luxurious compared to some people in the world.

I made the loveliest chicken salad sandwiches a few moments ago.

I used thinly sliced hard boiled eggs, chicken breast, chopped green olives, mayo, chopped onions and a little mustard, thoroughly mixed, and a queen olive put on top with a toothpick.

Now I'm making homemade chocolate chip cookies. We three roommates are listening to my favorite music artist with the angelic voice and more guitar playing soon.

One day, I'll live in a lovely home with a beautiful female friend sitting on the porch beside me.

Well, I told my pal that maybe I'll stop talking to you negative kind of people. You're trying to poison my soul and she likes me the way I am.

It's like a fairytale. She and I both like fairytales, except the queen just kicks it with the peasant. Not all happy endings involve marriage.

Proud,

So you are a fellow Ohioan, huh? It looks like we both got smart and the hell out of that state.

I assume you don't import POC beer or Piel's to remember the old hood.

I remember those old sash windows with the metal weights. We also had gas pipes that stuck out a few inches from the ceiling that were cut off and capped when electricity came along.

We had a coal furnace too. In our case, the coal truck would dump the load in the street and we had to wheelbarrow it up to the bin window and dump it in.

I always remember carrying those clinkers to the curb the night before trash day.

It was heaven when we went to gas heat in the 50s.

Jim McAllister said...

Middy,

Glad to hear his disapproval is higher than I thought.

I was watching "The Five" today on Fox and they showed a clip of grade school kids in this country singing proudly "Barack Hussein Obama" and how great he is. It reminds me of Nazi mind control.

They also had a page from grade school math with an illustration of a little girl handing over money to someone else with the caption talking about the importance of the redistribution of wealth.

You're right, Joe would just champion this nonsense and the importance to support government with taxes on food.

Now I see where Biden is saying Obama can unilaterally change gun laws through an executive order. Why do we have a congress when this a-hole can do anything he wants without their approval?

From the looks of gun sales, he better get some extra bodyguards and a bigger car. There is an awful lot of firepower out there waiting to defend their rights.

Now I see where Giffords is getting tough toward gun control. What happened to her is a shame but being the typical rubber stamp liberal she was, she wandered to that center without much security.

She should have known better but since when do liberals know anything about the real world?

Jim McAllister said...

Proud,

Fortunately, Musburger has a lot of support; even from the girl's parents.

The sad part is that this even became a talking point. It's just another example of the thin skinned, clueless, self important, liberal establishment that is trying to take over this country.

I have news for them: I have never met a woman yet who objects to being called beautiful or gorgeous.

The libs may be in power through that sorry excuse we have for a president and the Harry Reid Senate, but there are still more conservatives in this country who will eventually reach their limit of this nonsense.

midnightsstaff said...

Actually I don't know what to think anymore, I remember certain parasites telling me what a gun grabber Mitt Romney was, and how there really was no difference between the two of them- or get this..
Obama is a nice guy and he is trying, it's just that Bush left the economy in such ruin.

I get shouted off other sites- and banned off a couple as well.

Someone needs to make it clear that any legislator that signs gun ban legislation is from that moment an official enemy of the Constitution and will be held accountable as an enemy of the Constitution once order is restored.

I still think this is a head fake to keep our attention off Bengazi- and it's working pretty well- either that or they know the economy is going to crater sooner than we think.

Satan is walking the halls of Congress right now, there is going to be some real soul searching going on for a while- the worthless Republicans can't believe they are being disrespected this way and some of them realize the implications of what the monster is doing, time for congress to fish or cut bait.

Also, for the first few years of my memory, we had an ice man (yes, he comets every couple of days), us kids would follow him down the street, he would stop, open the back door, put a leather shoulder vest on, then grab these sharp and rather large tongs and stab a block of ice, hoisting it on his shoulder and carrying it up the stairs into a house where he would place it in the "Ice Box", we of course would grab a handful of ice shards off the floor of his truck and suck on them....It was a great pass-time for kids in the steamy humid Cleveland summer....

BTW regarding the coal fired furnaces...ours had a really cool grate on the cast iron door that we kids would slide open, revealing the roaring flames inside....(though you couldn't use your bare hand to push the slide w/o it leaving one hellofa mark)

Jim....I refer to the fact that, given the length of her clothes line, and the fact she is using a single pole to support the line, with no bracing, that any little movement of the clothes will tilt the pole (assuming she raises it vertical) and drop the clothes to the ground. If she does not raise it vertical, they will drop anyway. She needs to use 2 poles, or shorten the line to keep her clothes off the ground.
Also, the little burner-stove was used by my grandmother to melt wax to coat various items of fruit and other stuff around her house to keep it from rotting or rusting. She would put it on with a soft paint brush. She used to keep green beans and snap peas inside a waxed cloth, sealed with wax. To this day, I don't know if it really works but she did it constantly, and her food was always fresh as when she picked it or dug it up.

"Once Obamass is done turning this into a 3rd world coutry, we'll be back to using those old items."

Remember what I told you about who wins the 2012 election and what that would mean? No, you forgot or you didn't care.

The rich will be controlled. The poor will be slaughtered like cattle. It's for the greater good, they'll say. Our ideals, our beliefs, blah blah blah.

The media releases that the FBI/CIA/Administration/etc. said in a press release that spy drones are being used to make better drones, that the NSA is listening and reading our talk and texts on cell phones, the FBI can hear us talk through unused cellphones, satellites overhead watching us, and all manner of spying on Americans ...

NOT ONE PERSON is asking ...

if we're being watched; how did Aurora happen with all that planning? How did Sandy Hook happen? How did Tucson happen?

Instead of looking at the government's supposed spy programs created by George W. Bush, they want to do precisely what President Obama wants people to do.

Give the government more control over the people and I TOLD YOU OVER AND OVER AGAIN

that the government doesn't have to confiscate firearms.

They will ALLOW violence to occur. That's all they have to do.

It's simple. It's cheap. No matter what, the chaos will do the job that they need done. They need violence to occur to have a reason to change the laws and the people will WANT more control to feel safe.

I told you.

Anyway, I need to plan a garden. It will be that time soon.

It will be worse in the cities. Whether real or not, there will be food shortages. That will breed discontent. Rioting. More necessary violence to create more necessary laws.

Out of the chaos will come order.

Just more evidence that you can be either African or American but can't be both- they need to choose.

It's the obvious truth I'm pretty sure thoughtful people in the crowd of any demographic would agree but being too cowed by PC will never say...

The charade of granting respectability to minority groups acting in a tribal manner has to stop- when Ray Lewis is respected but Thomas Sowell or Justice Thomas are widely considered as sell outs to the race there will be problems.

Try to get some break space between you and the attacker if possible.

What she did was to try to give the guy her piece!.
Cops know that the first rule is to defend your weapon from the attacker.

This video indicates she had no intention of ever pulling the trigger probably because she never really mentally prepared herself for the event.

She got lucky this time but definitely needs some professional instruction- I hope she gets it..
Also in Arizona with Sheriff Joe in charge I would have emptied it center mass on this guy.. it would have saved us a legal mess.

when you dial 911 tell remind them to bring a pen, some reports, a few cameras, crime scene tape and body bags.. because that's pretty much all they will need if you have a real issue on your hands.

If you interview 100 people in downtown Phoenix at lunchtime, probably the majority would either say they never heard of Benghazi or Hillary and that they didn't care; it was old news.

That is what is so fascinating about the general public and why guys like Jay Leno can make a living looking at bewildered faces when he asks toughies like who was president before Obama and what is the capital of the US.

Another one was the guy in the mailbox on the corner.

That show was reincarnated several times and they all were funny.

Jim McAllister said...

Proud,

I agree on Rose.

He was never the sharpest chisel in the tool shed but "hustle" doesn't even begin to describe the guy.

Pete loves the ponies and I remember seeing him at Latonia Race Track across the river from Cincy in Kentucky back in about 1967 hanging out with some oily looking guys. I'm sure they weren't a good influence.

Pete is two weeks younger than I am and he went to Western Hills High School in Cincy while I was at Withrow. He graduated in 1960.

By 1963, I was stationed in Germany where we got a lot of baseball broadcasts through the Armed Forces Network.

I remember them doing a Reds' game and the announcer said Pete was hitting about .270 as a rookie. I thought, "Wow, the Reds finally got a 2nd baseman who can hit pretty good!" Little did I know he would go on to get 4,256 hits in his career. I can still see him running out walks as though he hit a line drive into the corner.

A few years ago, Wade Boggs, who had a great career with Boston, limped into his 3,000th hit. He was really washed up but he nailed that hit after Tampa Bay signed him and he retired soon after that.

Pete was asked what he thought of Boggs' feat and he answered, "Hell, I had that many batting left handed!" (He had 3,490 lefty, and 766 righty).

I can't even imagine a guy getting 4,256 hits in the major leagues plus he played outfield, 2nd base and third base.

I saw a piece today about Derek Jeter "closing in on Rose's hit record." It's laughable! He is 1,008 hits behind and is 38 years old. No way he passes Rose as good as he is.

Pete should definitely be in the Hall.

I was really glad to see Bonds and Clemens get ignored by the BBWA. They will never get in and rightly so.

It's a pretty weak class when Craig Biggio is the highest vote getter. Craig was a good guy and a hell of a second sacker but not really a hall of fame guy.

Jim, agree Jeter is a great player, but doubt he will tack on another 1,000+ in the twilight of his career.

Growing up in Cleveland, I didn't closely follow Cincy, but EVERY time I did watch a game with Pete Rose, he was the epitome of the word "outstanding". The picture I tried to post above was the one of his famous head first slide, which was in fact a full on, air-born, face first, dive. That seemed to be the way he approached the game, give it 150 % I can't think of another player that played,(plays) with his level of intensity and heart. His addiction to gambling, and even his gambling on games where his team was involved had no impact on who won, and certainly wasn't cheating like a Bonds, or McGuire juicing to give themselves enhanced abilities on the field. Those guys cheated to help their stats / career's, Rose broke a rule, but his stats career performance was earned legitimately...IMO, a hall of fame w/ Charlie Hustle, is a bit of a joke, and baseball's insistence on his being banished doesn't do a thing for the game....

Morrison is good; I saw him a few years ago on Austin City Limits. He put on a nice show.

My Billboard book of top 40 hits only lists "Gloria" by The Shadows of Knight.

They show that it was written by Morrison and was on the top 40 charts for 8 weeks getting as high as number 10 during the spring of '66.

I thought Morrison and Them had a version but it's not listed.

The only songs listed for Them are "Here Comes the Night" and "Mystic Eyes" both from '65 that made it to 24 and 33 respectively.

Their version of "Gloria" must have not made the top 40 because, like you, I remember them doing it.

Or this truth of Eminem supposedly finding that he had truly sold his soul to the devil when he became a music star. Check out this video, Proud. The address also a period.

Is it "organized stalking" or "spiritual warfare?" and this also has a period in the address. Proud will like this video. Like minds.

My best friend is a rock star and I've done a lot of research into her world and I've asked a lot of questions and I have never been attacked so much as I have when I looked behind the curtain and saw the truth. It's way too powerful, so it will have to be destroyed like bringing down a Communist country - a period of years. Eroding their profits and rewarding them with more profits while policing their naughty behavior.

For now, I'm to stand down. Don't come to my farm. Please, Proud. It just couldn't work between us.

Yes, Jim.

I'm sorry, Proud.

I'll let you adults talk. I'm gonna go hang out with the kids and play guitar.

PROUD said...

rick...there was nothing personal in what I posted. My google link clearly shows, there have been any number of hidden viruses hidden with something as simple as a dot, that's why I also posted a google search showing such a link COULD be a virus. That link also contains articles on legitimate "shortened" URL's, which your link COULD very well be. Why you take it as an attack or threat to you is beyond me,(most likely because you are one gigantic, freakin, paranoid, obsessive/ compulsive, nut-case).

My warning contained nothing about you personally,(other than your name) no insults, there have in fact been lots of Trojan virus's spread using gimmicks like the "dot". Just todfay, the Homeland Security Dept warned about a new virus hidden in something as innocent as "JAVA" programs. Look at this from yesterday's paper:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/technology/chi-homeland-security-urges-computer-users-to-disable-java-20130111,0,5686660.story

So you see, my comment was informative, and nothing else. Were you not delusional and paranoid you would easily have seen that....Instead, you play the victim and pick a fight...

Please have NO fear, the last thing on my agenda is to visit your magic,(see total Bull ShIT / make believe) kingdom....I'm very happy here, in the real world.

BTW, nice job of holding it together, you made 6 paragraphs before re-entering your own little S/N fantasy land.

This is the point where SANE people tell you, "your best friend is a GOAT...not a rock star"...

But having watched you dwell in this sickness for the better part of a decade, I think I'll pass....

Go play some 40 year old Fleetwood / Mac albums, escape reality, and conjur up more of fantasy's about how you and S/N are friends, and how "rich" people are using their fortunes....to get you....

Well I won't have to waste any more electricity or time on football this year.
You cant beat a good team, when you drop a punt on your own 5 yard line.

midnightsstaff said...

That was a complete disaster.. the 49'ers are just a better team- no excuses.

GB had better take a serious look at the offensive line and middle coverage before next season.
SF is a great team and fun to watch.

Jim McAllister said...

I can't believe Kaepernick. If Alex Smith didn't get hurt, we may never have heard of the guy.

He simply owned the Packers. I couldn't believe his running ability and accuracy of his passes.

When he came in against the Bears and performed like that, I figured it was beginner's luck. Then he had that big game against Tom Brady. Tonight he showed he is for real.

Smith may as well pack his gear.

midnightsstaff said...

It was a total defensive embarrassment last night- when a one armed offensive lineman stays in the game and wins the battles it says a lot.

K-man looked like a veteran pro bowler out there last night- but things happen and defenses adjust so we will see how he does next week, but he is another special SF quarterback- and they have had a few.

It got colder than a mother in laws kiss over here in the badlands last night, I don't think we would make very good Canadians.

Fortunately, in Cincy they have the strong city council form of government and the mayor only digs the fist shovel of dirt for new buildings or cuts the ribbon at new supermarket openings.

Jim, when this type of article is written by and published in Pravda de la Sacramento there is pretty good reason to believe we have a stronger case for winning this argument than most might think.

I am certain this is a feigned crisis to get us desensitized for the real push later on but mostly to keep Bengazi on the back burner and our eye off the criminals he is hiring, but it could be working against this monster in the long run.. lots of former ZObamaies are finally realizing how much he hates America.

I have no delete button,(maybe I wish I had)...what I say I mean...

When you were "justcallmelater" (and a couple other pseudonyms that had to do with being a born-again writer) pissing off pretty much everyone on AZ Central with your continual rants about S?N....
I was the first to ask you to drop all the stevie crap and engage in some REAL discussions, even suggesting topics like writing, farming or guitars, all things you expressed sincere interest in. I made the suggestion because I believed you had something worthwhile to contribute to a conversation....

Well, you attacked me, while saying I was attacking you.... went off on some rant about stevie, the VA, morphine, and your late wife's demise.(kinda like you do today, some 3-5 yrs later)

From your posts, I can see where you want to be included, see where you want to be friends, but every time someone reaches out to you, you retreat into the same old paranoid delusion...in which YOU are a victim, and everyone else on the planet is rich, selfish, mean...and out to get you, only YOU...and the sole reason for your life's position, is all-powerful, stevie nicks is trying to bring you harm.

THAT'S JUST SO MUCH BULL-SHIT!

I'm not rich...mean, nor selfish, I have no particular ax to grind with you, I honestly wish you no harm. I'm fine with your being attracted to and fascinated with a celebrity, we all have fantasy's...you just don't seem to realize they are just that, FANTASY...

Any attacks I've made on you are the result of something you said to provoke a response, not necessarily about ME personally, but like EVERY one who seems to cross your path, I grow weary of your never ending penchant for taking each and every topic to a stevie nicks conclusion.

I come here to interact with the other participant, add give my two cents to a given topic...period. Recently, I thought if I could show you how ridiculous it is to twist every topic into a fascination about a rock star,(I used Britney), that you might get the point,...you accused me (jim middy and others) of being on stevie's payroll? and trying to ruin your life...

If you honestly believe there is a conspiracy of rich, Arizonans, and rock star elites, spending down their own money, or money funneled from Ms Nicks, to bring down a goat farmer in Richland Missouri, then, obviously, I have wasted the above, typed letters.on the other hand...

IF...by some chance, you honestly get that NO-body has formed an organized coalition to destroy you, and all you are really looking for is some internet chat, friendship, then I again,(as I did so many years ago on AZC) ask you tho stop taking every topic and turning it into a S/N rant...

The ball is squarely in your court. I can't speak for the others, but I hold no hatred, contempt, or malice toward you. All I'd ask is that you please refrain from dragging S/N into every topic ?

…The pirate acknowledged that they merged their operations with Goldman in late 2008 to take advantage of the more relaxed regulations governing bankers as opposed to pirates, “plus to get our share of the bailout money….”

That irrational hatred of others liberals have always nurtured is because they have limited long term reasoning capacity coupled with the propensity to allow others to influence their opinion in turn for promises of plunder.

To effect that plunder requires a level of demonization of their targets of scorn- two feet bad, four feet good.

The limited mental aspect is not enough in itself to incubate the disease of liberalism, the willingness to lie, cheat and steal are the core foundations required.
..don't waste my time telling me someone is liberal but a good person, they are not- they are at best lazy minded and therefore a menace to an orderly society.

Look at the opposition a reasonable person faces in living and producing in their day to day life with the media and a government reinforcing the baser instincts of man, maintaining an unnatural level of tension.

Whatever the divisive issue, they controllers know their argument has more value toward reaching their goals if never allowed to be discussed truthfully and in the open.

funny how all dictators and unions cherish maintaining their advantage through any means necessary, while our side crucifies anyone making an honest mistake.

Mike,

Being from the city where pro baseball started (Cincinnati) I couldn't help but be a Reds' fan as a kid.

In those days there were only 8 teams in each league and no playoffs. The two league winners played for the World Series.

Cleveland was the nearest NFL city but for some reason I always liked the Detroit Lions.

We had the Cincinnati Royals of the NBA too. I kind of followed them because Jack Twyman from the U of Cincinnati was their big star with Oscar Robertson after him. Today they are the Sacramento Kings.

I never was too thrilled by college football after seeing the pros and hockey is OK but I'm not near the fan of that as much as Middy and Barb.

Overall, I'm not near the fan I used to be. Too many prima donna players making more money than they deserve and getting in trouble with the law. It gets tiresome.

There are some college football games I like such as Notre Dame getting killed by Alabama. Brian Kelly deserved that shellacking after walking away from Cincy the way he did before the Orange Bowl a couple years ago.

I can't take college football seriously because these conferences are usually made up of one national team and seven doormats.

So year after miserable year they bludgeon their way through the regular season beating the hell out of third rate competition, wind up getting a bowl bid like Oklahoma University always does and predictably look like a bowl of left over oatmeal on game day.

So every year we end up with a season of curious match ups ending with teams losing their way by taking a month off from playing giving us a blown out BSC bowl, leaving no one happy.

Alabama for instance played their last regular season game on Dec. 1- their next game was Jan.7.. that doesn't happen in the NFL.

At least it gives Clarkston College coeds along with every other big fish in a small pond schools the opportunity to bellow- "WEEER NUMBAH ONNNEEE! until the beer finally runs out.

The problem with NCAA football in my mind is the format and not the game.
Right now it looks like a season of disassociated match ups culminating in the annual Tidy Bowl showdown.

pay no attention to me, it's just my early morning rant.

Btw.. it looks like goodbye Apple day today..under 5 today and little support.

It's just one thing after another with this clown as president.

Middy,

I have my silver .38 locked and loaded and I don't go anywhere without it.

Proud,

I guess Armstrong decided that he had enough dough so he could come clean on the doping. Quite a disappointment; I always thought a lot of him but he is just another phony.

Now, he'll probably get a million dollar book deal to tell us about it.

"What a country!"

There is nothing that can be done with the Cart-nals..
nothing whatsoever.

They have a state of the art facility and after that nada, I keep hoping they will sell the franchise to LA and turn it into a monster truck venue or a swap meet.
at least then we might get a decent game to watch on Sundays.
